I used this firm a sale/purchase of a property. An absolute joke of a company, with no customer service; staff who clearly were incompetent and even rude. I eventually completed my move but no thanks to these cowboys. I pretty much led them to completion myself!

I would strongly advise not going with this solicitor. We went with them in 2015. To be fair we did end up completing but trying to get through to anyone who actually knows what they're doing is impossible! As first time buyers we were very excited to be moving in to our first house together but our process took us 8/9 months to complete with at least 2 calls or emails to them every day!

I had a fairly simple sale as it was to neighbour no chain and no complications.
Having had my case change hands 2 times it was time to move on with sale having provided all my paperwork.
The iniital 3 months was waiting for buyer to get a mortagage and was determined for things to move quickly afterwards.
Having not heard anything for nearly 4 months i chased only to find various question had been asked buy the buyers solicitors and whilst it was not my new solicitor fault(details sent to old solicitor) the buck stopped with Allan Rutherford office and disorganized way in which solicitors are based in local offices and paperwork seems to be sent to Ipswich, Norwich or Colchester.
After a very stressful period gaining all paperwork which could of been done months ago and with barely 1 call returned by the office/solicitor in charge we finally get to completion.
Having lost confidence i chose to follow up all payments with bank to make sure everthing is ok only to find the final payment is short by over 5K.
I call to find again another office to blame the accounts and phone immediately as i'm being charged a daily rate by my bank and i have already accrued another 4 days interest.
Now the accountant acknowledges the mistake and says she will pay amount immediately.
On review of the final bill i realise i have now been charged a different amount than the original quote and still short £96 which they seem very reluctant to bother to pay and cannot get through to there accountants or practice manager.
On the 1 time i managed to get through to accountants it was made pretty clear to me that they were busy and they would try to resolve the mistakes they made for which i was being charged a daily interest rate with no apology.
On the whole very unprofessional and unorganized and would not trust with more pressing important issues although i can only comment on the conveyancing side it does not paint a pretty picture.

WARNING!! They will not answer your calls or emails, they will drive you crazy. It took me 4 weeks to get a reply and I only received a reply because I requested the company complaint procedure!
I am now in the process to move to another solicitor and they will not refund me £200 deposit I paid.

Their stationary as of a letter posted to me on 03/06/2015 carries a FALSE telephone number in the heading,,,they CLAIM it was changed two days ago!! NO one answers the new telephone number!
At the bottom of their stationary they give a 'Helpline' number...THIS IS FALSE..it is owned by a private individual who has no idea why he keeps getton calls relating to Allan Rutherford! Their 'terms' carry an 'engagement fee' of £200.....they demanded £250 of me! They now claim THAT was also changed 'two days ago'.....too many coincidences. I have reported their behaviour to the Solicitors Regulation Authority and to the Law Society. They should not be allowed to practise...were similar to occur in the NHS, the Chief Executive and the Medical Director would lose their jobs! The accreditaion bodies to which they CLAIM to comply/conform can know nothing about them!
