I had a mixed experience with ARC.

Positives: dealt with fast and efficientnowhere didn't have to pay the fees twice when our first house fell through and all the work had to be redone for the second house; fast response to emails; cheapest quote I could find

Negatives: updates often not given until I asked for them; legal speak wasn't translated into plain English so I understood what was needed of me or our vendors (this meant I often guessed what was going on);

Also some additional fees were added on due to our 'matter being complex', which were then removed when I queried them. I was told that these were added on in error but the cynic inside me wonders if they were trying it on and hoping I didn't notice so they might recoup some of the cost of the time they spent working on the first house that fell through. The cost they quoted before I queried it was close to £1,000 more than I ended up paying and I had to query our solicitor's calculations twice, which made it even worse.

At the end of the day, our purchase was dealt with swiftly (for both houses) and they were good value for money but if I wasn't on the ball (and kept previous email correspondence) then I could have ended up paying more than I should have done.

In all honesty, i am not sure if I would use them again or recommend them. If you're prepared to chase for updates and feel like you're making a nuisance of yourself, plus switched on enough to double check their calculations then go for it,

I guess I have learnt my lesson and will not pay for such a cheap service again. The online client access information was never completed so how can they offer online tracking???

I was asked to search for pointless information which they should have told my buyer's solicitor was unnecessary or that they could have searched for themselves.

I negotiated an exchange and completion date with one solicitor, to then be rung by another one a few days later who denied all knowledge of the date agreed. This held up completion by a week.

I had to ask 2 weeks after completion for a completion statement - it was emailed to me promptly but looking at the date on it, it was obvious it should have been posted to me a couple of days after completion.

On a positive and why I have given them 3 stars - despite the delay over completion, the whole sale process did move quite quick.

I don't blame individual members of staff - I think the organisation needs to look at what it promises.

I would reccomend due to their reasonable rate, however there were a few occaisions where there seemed to be mis-communication between the parties. Whether this was down to ARC solicitors or the sellers' solicitors I am not sure. The solicitors were however helpful on the major part.

Positive: Everything done by email, reasonable price.

Negative: Difficult to talk to your solicitor by phone (the phone number given to clients is difficult to get through, have to listen to the music for a looooooong time. Not very clear instruction for documents signed and sent. We were told on the early morning of the very last (and the same date of completion) that the completion could not be done because they had not been given enough time! But the completion date was agreed more than two months before the completion date!

service was not to bad, I was quoted £299.00 all in but when the final bill came I was charged £465.00 so over 50 % more than I was promised !!
