BP Collins are considered a local and professional Solicitors and certainly their prices reflect their location.

Admittedly my case was long and complex, and I even followed my Solicitor to this practice when she left another nearby. I hoped this would keep costs and delays to a minimum. I was wrong and was even charged for the transfer of her old files by her previous employer and then charged again by my Solicitor to check and read her own files at her new employers! This was not communicated to me in advance.

However, that is not my main concern - the sums involved were much more significant. I was sent an email estimate of £2500.00 to get my case "prepared and up to and including FDR" However I was actually invoiced a figure 87% higher, without any prior communication, for warning or discussion.

Furthermore, when i did try to query this figure with my Solicitor is was met with complete intransigence forcing me to escalate the matter. It was finally investigated and an ex-gratia reduction of 44% was offered. However, because of the huge disparity and lack of communication or advance warning I tried to negotiate and offer an amount which i felt was more realistic and closer to the figure originally estimated. This again, was met with complete intransigence and a "veiled" threat to remove the ex-gratia deduction. I have therefore reluctantly paid this, and vowed to ensure that no one else gets caught out the way i did.

I am too scared to calculate just how much i have spent on my divorce but reckon it is circa £35k split across two Solicitor Practices and honestly feel that the whole process could have been managed much better, with clearer and more open, honest and accurate communication

A firm with, in my opinion, only one strategy on Family Law from my own personal experience - to continually ignore desperate and genuine pleas to negotiate - all seemingly aimed at driving up fees. All of which resulted in untold pain for our children and everyone involved. I strongly advise any potential clients to avoid them if your objective is in any way to maintain any sort of positive relationship with your ex partner, for the best interests of your children.

At all times we take the appropriate steps to represent our clients’ best interests and requirements, and act in accordance with their instructions. Mr Shawcross was not, and has never been, represented by our firm and so we cannot comment further.

Avoid at all cost. Prolonged the process in order to present inflated bill, which was more than DOUBLE that estimated. These people are immoral thieves with no conscience.

My name is Gary Kiely, I am the partner in charge of our Private Client team. I firstly want to say sorry that you have not had our normal exceptionally high service and that you feel disappointed over a number of issues. Client care and client satisfaction is extremely important to me, the team and the firm.

I have investigated and spoken to each member of our team and they are all very surprised to see this comment hence my delay in responding to this. I too, have not heard about this issue directly from you as I take these issues extremely seriously and I would have ensured that this would have been resolved.

Please give us the opportunity to put things right for you. You can get in contact with me directly on 01753 278686 or if your preferred method of contact is email, my direct email is gary.kiely@bpcollins.co.uk.

Dont be fooled by posh accent and encouragement of this lady as she addmited that those ones who has the money wins! If its a small case she wont pay any interest but she will charge high rates because of her "expertise"!
Please avoid her and BP Collins Solicitors!!
