I have known her professionally for over 10 years, and during that time I have worked with her on several cases involving catastrophic injury. They have all been complex and difficult, and at least two of them were for clients who, due to brain injury, were fragile and vulnerable, as a result of which the relationship with the clients took far more management than is usually the case.
I have had the opportunity to note and appreciate Marina‘s attention to detail, which is of the utmost value in major personal injury claims, and her management of the paperwork is admirable
In addition, she excels in those other attributes which are of paramount importance, in my opinion, namely humanity, sympathy and understanding. I recommend her wholeheartedly.

I was injured in a shunt accident in December 1999 and this accident has completely changed my life. I can no longer work, drive or do many of the hobbies I so previously enjoyed such as walking, playing the piano, art, sewing, knitting and cooking. I now need to have very regular treatment each week and my life is now about living what is in some ways a very restricted life but due to Marina‘s expertise she has provided me with financial security that enables me to get the treatment and help in my home that I require to get back some quality of life. Without this I dread to think how my life would be. She could not give me my old life back but what she has given me is an opportunity to make the best of the new life I now have.
It is very hard to express my thanks to Marina for what she did for me but at the most simplest she took on a case which, almost four years down the line from the accident, was difficult in all aspects of its presentation. These difficulties included having a type of injury, a severe neck and back injury, which are notoriously difficult to get taken seriously by the medico-legal world and a previous legal team which had not really been able to get to grips with the type of expert evidence that my case required despite already seen a lot of professionals who professed to be “expert” in the field and yet did not seem to understand and, in some cases, believe in my injuries at all.

One of Marina‘s great qualities is to listen, really listen to what I was saying. From my accident on I felt sick and dizzy constantly, as if I had, at best got off some ride at fairground. I constantly mentioned this to various professionals who all told me it was normal with neck injury. But I felt as time progressed there was more to it than this and so started doing my own research and discovered that people who suffer whiplash can also have balance disorders. I then followed this up and saw specialists who confirmed I did indeed have problems with vertigo as well as my neck injury. Despite none of the experts I had seen from the claim up to this point having identified this issue Marina supported me in exploring this avenue. As soon as I found someone who did identify me as having a specific problem she immediately set up an appointment for me to see medico-legal specialist in balance disorders and this enabled me to access a range of rehabilitation which is very specialist and not available to many. Sadly because of my neck injuries it did not work for me but it helped me in coming to terms with what had happened to me as I know I have tried all options to try to get better.
I was recently asked to describe my experience of Marina as a solicitor and I described her as being a good listener, that she believed in me, in what I had to say and took my concerns very seriously. She was supportive but extremely thorough in all she did. I felt she was very careful to explore and cover all aspects of my situation to make sure my case was water-tight. She was meticulous over the smallest detail but nonetheless I had no sense that she wasted her time on irrelevancies or trivia. Her attention to detail was second to none and I was therefore able to fully trust her and know she was doing the very best for me. I always felt I could ring her and she would give me her fullest attention. I also found when she was away that the rest of the team at Barcan Woodward would be there and were always helpful. I never felt left adrift or worried that I did not know what was going on. I always felt fully in the picture of what was going and that I was told honestly what to expect as some aspects of pursuing a claim can be at best gruelling and at times seem outrightly invasive and abusive.
