Appallingly slow and rude. Nobody answers the phone - ever - and they take several days to respond to emails.

We do not know if this person is a client of our firm. It is an anonymous review. We would say that it is best to read reviews that are left by bona fide clients of ours.

It is highly unlikely that Barrett and Co Solicitors LLP "never answer the phone" or "never answer emails". This is simply not possible. We don't know who is calling us as calls go through our receptionist to ensure they get to the right person. Once we open a case file for a client, our direct lines and email addresses can be used.

Our firm has more than 70 positive reviews on Google (more than any other general law firm in Reading).

Anonymous reviews can be placed by anyone, anywhere in the world for a number of reasons. This is why we ensure the majority of our reviews are either published on Google, where they are verified, or are kept in a folder in our reception as hard copy letters and emails, indicating we are extremely good at what we do.

If you are reading this review and want to call us, please do on 0118 958 9711. We can assure you we will answer the phone. Alternatively email info@barrettandco.co.uk

Definitely one to avoid. I was dealt with by Justin Sadler, who assured me my small claim was 'worth pursuing' and 'I had a good case'. When it had concluded and he claimed fees totalling more than the settlement he suggested we accept, the ombudsman agreed that he had not kept me informed of fees properly and was on the make. He also then had a completely opposite opinion on the success of small claims once the complaint went in. I have everything recorded or in writing if proof is required - the man is a confidence trickster, and I caught him at it.

Unfortunately, you cannot chose your clients! Based on the initial information Dan Haycock gave me, I advised him that he had a good claim. He did actually settle for 3250 pounds, so I was not wrong. However, the court adjourned the trial due to the Defendants wanting to fly in a witness from Norway, and Dan Haycock decided that he no longer wanted to go to court. We tried to settle for a higher figure but the Defendants would not offer any more. Dan Haycock kept on changing his mind about what he wanted to do and refused to talk to my firm on the telephone! Insisting that everything be by email, which slowed down negotiations and increased the legal fees. His final legal fees were around 2000 so he still made money out if it.
