Truly an awful experience.

I started the conveyancing process early to try and get my sale progressing and sadly the buyer pulled out. All I had done was fill out some extensive questionnaires, which took at least an hour of my time and then this information was sent as a 'pack' to the buyers solicitor. The bill for this work was nearly £1000. When I queried what cost so much in 2 emails, I received no response except about a month later they sent their bank details.

The communication is terrible, especially when problems arise, as they always do in property sales. Save yourself the headache and some change, and find another solicitor. The sad thing was, this was a recommendation from a work colleague, which prevented me from reading reviews online, if I had read these reviews I would never have instructed this firm.

Ask this company to litigate a case for me, at first the solicitor was very good but then she left. I heard nothing for 6 weeks despite repeated contact. I raised a complaint and it was dealt with. 4 weeks into the new solicitor starting, she left, again no contact still waiting for them to response to my request to what happens. I think two solicitors leaving says it all.

They are very quick to chase you up for money, but that’s about it

Unfortunately I can’t give no stars . If you are looking to purchase a property which doesn’t involve any actual work other than touching paper then these are your guys . However if there any issues , charges or restrictions you will need to research this yourself. As they get ‘overlooked’ was the excuse by Mr Mark Gilbertson.
Please bear in mind that this house was about to complete and had the purchase gone ahead. I would of lost my deposit and had a mortgage on a house I couldn’t live in .
So maybe one might deem it understandable to be a little if not a lot upset .
So I complained to Mr Jonathan Beck which was a absolute joke . He tried firstly to ignore me then blame the pandemic and lockdown for missing my email. (Correct me but this guy is not medical but probably just sitting at home on his computer?!). When he did respond he completely detracted and dismissed my actual complaint . He then just goes to say they acted correctly and that’s it . Obviously I don’t agree so I send another email and again no acknowledgment. So after a week or so, I’m getting frustrated so I send another email . He then replies immediately to tell me he doesn’t appreciate my ‘tones’ and says my email is ‘facetious ‘ . I reply and this time Jonathan can’t bear it ,he says case closed and tells me to go to the Ombudsman and still not addressing the original complaint . All I wanted was an apology from the company and a refund of my search fee (as a good will gesture) which I thought was pretty reasonable, considering all my other costs incurred post communication with Black Norman.
So now they get another bad review

I had a buyer who unfortunately pulled out of the sale of my house prematurely, within 5 days a new buyer at asking price was found. After asking Black Norman to put the file on hold they send me an invoice for £750 as an abortion fee to change the name of the buyer on the contracts and “start from scratch”. No enquiries were answered previously, minimal conveyancing was done.

Total lack of professionalism. They don't call you back , they agree to take tour case and withdraw their agreement a week later without notice .
