They claim to help people affected under the mental health act. However, the bleak world of mental health care and the abuse of mental health laws still remains part of an untouchable institution of abuses.
Contacted the mental health department at this firm for help for a victim. However, the split second I told them that the issue I wanted to discus involved mental health abuses, they did what every single solicitor and law firms does, which is say sorry can not help. Institutional mental health abuse is untouchable.

***AVOID THIS COMPANY*** Philip Pearson reneged on an 35% no win no fee agreement and lost me many thousands. He stated in an email that the firm offered me this deal, but never sent me any paperwork to sign and later stated the 35% agreement was no longer an option because I did not sign it. After telling me this was a guaranteed win due to the evidence, he crumbled at first contact with the defendants legal firm and told me their offer (£20,000 less than ours) was a good deal and to accept it as if I went to tribunal I would need to pay his firm £15,000 (which he knew I could not afford, and was the reason for the 35% agreement). This firm is spineless and has zero regard for mentally ill clients and outsource their formal complaints to another law firm who are clearly biased in their favour. ***AVOID THIS COMPANY***

Throughout the duration of the case, there were a couple of solicitors involved and the handover between the two was extremely poor. The new 'solicitor' allocated to the case was a trainee and, whilst very pleasant, was obviously greatly lacking in relevant experience. This was extremely concerning given the nature of the charges and the potential sentence involved. There was little update provided to the accused and following trial communication was even worse. Despite the perceived failings in the service (from point of view of the accused and their family) no real attempts were made to advise of potential next steps. Following sentencing, when the barrister appointed by Cartwright King was asked about next steps, she advised not to expect to hear much from Cartwright King because the 'solicitor' was busy and had other cases to concentrate on. Whilst I appreciate that would be the case, there was a distinct lack of empathy and client care from someone who was supposed to be representing the accused. The outcome - an innocent person is now in prison for a crime they did not commit and they are having to seek a second opinion from alternative representation as to the possibility of an appeal and any negligence/procedural faults in relation to the action of Cartwright King. As a legally trained professional, I would strongly advise to look elsewhere for a criminal defence solicitor. Cartwright King should be considered a last resort/fall back option, not a leading firm in this area.

Why is the sra asleep to this company and their doings . I have had a very bad experience with this company in which they withheld all of the prosecution case failed to review the evidence, falsified a defence statement , falsified notes etc. Please can you get in touch at justicefourandre@outlook.com .

I was extremely unhappy with the service provided for a spouse visa application. Due to incompetence & oversight we were refused a visa and I got a full refund after my complaint was referred to the external arbitrator (the firm themselves only offered to refund half the fees). I was also quoted a fixed fee and then told after the application that due to 'exchange rate fluctuations' I owed aprox another £300. All in all my contact with Cartwright King has caused a great deal of expense and distress for my husband and myself and there is no way of compensating for this, even with a full refund. We are now having to go through a lengthy and possibly expensive, appeal process.

Shocking service, complete waste of space and just do not care. Would never use again. Michael Thurston is useless at handling complaints, to actually see he is a business defence solicitor is concerning based on his behaviour. He is also the executive chairman of the firm....you really couldn't make this circus show up.

The services were abysmal at best, fragmented, inconsiderate, out of touch, unreliable, totally failed when it came to client case defence.Allowed the Tribunal to walk all over them, and even indicated prior to the hearing,it was a done deal,so hopefully if they are struck off, that will be great news, otherwise they represent themselves,by screwing legal aid, which as a tax payer,I am not keen. But as an honest citizen,I feel obligated to report them,to ensure they are competent, when it comes to any case they handle. As I think the HMRC,law society etc should srretch their legs, perhaps a visit will be welcome.

Please could you contact the firm on info@cartwrightking.co.uk to discuss the points that you have raised above. This is not the level of standard we are usually known for and we would like to look into what has happened in your circumstances. Cartwright King Team.

Zero stars if Google gave that option.
Do not employ them to act on your behalf if you are arrested. I was arrested last year for an alleged financial crime - they sent an 'agent' of theirs for the police interview, he was more concerned about missing dinner with his wife than the serious matter in hand. The case was passed round a few times with some pretty awful comments coming out of some of their employees mouths. To believe these people actually have a degree is beyond belief, let alone a qualification to act as solicitor. They breached their clients trust by ringing the police force who were investigating me , asking for feedback and totally undermining the trust of their client. The fact that the Metropolitan Police felt the need to tell me and actually look me in the eyes and say, "you hired these to defend you?" I am ashamed that I ever used Cartwright King - totally disgusting type of firm. Trust means more than money, and I shall in time make them pay heavily for breach of trust.

Avoid this firm at all costs. Very unprofessional and lazy. Only interested in legal aid, once they get there they don't care. From Barristers to solicitors, all useless. AVOID this firm! I wouldn't even give them 1 star if it was up to me.

Provided most basic service only. Omitted vital information and failed to accept responsibility. Legal Ombudsman confirmed negligence and awarded compensation, which led Cartwright King to state that my claim could not be trusted due to my criminal offence...
They are not professional, do not act in their client's best interest and will ask you continuously for funds to be paid into their account.

I agree entirely with this comment but can add more - no continuity with solicitors then a completely new one on day of trial who nothing about me or the case. Totally incompetent, leading to wrongful conviction then they just give you the brush off. no duty of care whatsoever. Only good at defending themselves once a complaint is lodged.
How do they get away with it?
Keep the complaints coming in.
