Cooper Stott Solicitors Ltd

Divorce

1 stars

Initial meeting was shocking. I knew more it seemed about the divorce process than the solicitor I met with. Key facts I gave were forgotten, very important things for my case. No notes were taken. I felt like I was meeting with the Receptionist not a professional experienced solicitor. I had zero confidence from this meeting to have this solicitor or firm handle my divorce. I was genuinely shocked by the lack of knowledge and inability to advise me on a good forward plan (which other firms I met with did). Their offices are shabby and the waiting area feels like you are in a small box out of view. With admin staff in an open main area there is no clear reception or sense of who to announce yourself to. No hand shake was offered before nor after. Despite gaining no distinct answers and the fact that things like me stating when my ex and I split and stopped living together I was speechless when ten minutes later it was brought up about us still living together. Compared to other firms who charge similarly this was way under par. Nice, bright offices and proper meeting rooms and offer of tea, coffee and a competent lawyer taking notes with great advice versus meeting in somebody’s office over a desk with no offer of anything to drink, zero listening skills and a sense of knowing more than the solicitor. No thanks. I found their office hard to find also and quite frankly it would depress me to have had to be in there again. Despite answering no questions I was told I could just come in the next day and pay my initial fees no problem, assuming I had already engaged the firm. None of the others did this. If you are looking in the Durham area there are numerous better firms I researched and talked to.

Absolutely awful service. Would never use again. Had to chase up constantly to get anything done. Rude and utterly indifferent to our complaints. If I could have given no stars I would.
