Richard Manchester became a solicitor in 1969 and founded the firm just over 40 years ago with the assistance of his wife Glenys, a legal cashier. He is now retired and will gladly introduce you to the partners on request.
James Manchester (partner) was born in Croydon in 1971 and attended local schools. He graduated Bachelor of Laws in 1993 and Master of Arts in 1996 from University of Westminster. He became a Solicitor in 1996. He acts on with many types of property transaction, probate, taxation, wills, trusts and advises older Clients. Is married and has three daughters.
Andrew Durman (partner) Graduated bachelor of Laws in 1994 from Aberystwyth University and became a Solicitor in 1997.
Varied experience at senior level and headed a probate department before joining Manchesters in 2003. He acts on many types of property transaction, probate, taxation, wills, trusts and advises older Clients.
Conveyancing
We provide a range of conveyancing services, including transfers of equity, re-mortgages, unregistered land transactions, and option agreements, concentrating on residential conveyancing and lease renewals. We are dedicated to protecting our Clients. We use Standard and Poor’s A rated professional indemnity insurers.
Probate Service
We offer a comprehensive probate service concentrating on non-contentious probate matters and aim to provide helpful and considerate advice at the most difficult of times. We can provide guidance where someone dies leaving a Will or no Will and the rules and procedures that then apply.
Power of Attorney
Let us advise on the new regime applicable to Lasting Powers of Attorney and prepare one for you. It is now possible to appoint someone not just to administer one's property during their lifetime but also to appoint them to have a say in important welfare decisions relating to matters such as medical treatment. We can also advise your Attorney on the exercise of their powers.

Manchesters was easily the most competitively priced solicitors in my area. I was a little concerned as to whether this would mean a lesser service but this was not the case. Whilst my purchase did not go as smoothly as I would have hoped, throughout the process it became clear that this was because Mr Manchester paid exceptional attention to detail, not deferring to my pressure but ensuring that the purchase was in my best interests. His advice on both my sale and purchase was given after great care and thought, inferring that he was indeed working for me personally and not just working through an anonymous case file. I would therefore highly recommend him as a solicitor who knows the law to the letter and who will cross all the t's and dot all the i's. The office staff were very friendly and accessible too.
