Avoid this solicitor! I was referred to this solicitor Peter Collins Maku-Kemi when someone falsely accused me of defrauding them of monies they loaned to my company for a legitimate business. I was shocked and incensed by the false allegation and wanted to repay the funds immediately. I was advised to instruct a solicitor to write to the false accuser and pay him his money back, to prevent being falsely accused of witness tampering additionally. Peter Collins Maku-Kemi assured me he will write the letter offering them the repayment and charged me £80 as his fee which I paid immediately by cheque, but I was concerned that he was sleeping during our meeting instead of listening. This was a red flag.

Weeks went by and Peter Collins Maku-Kemi failed to provide me with a receipt for my payment, failed to collect ID and address verification information from me in line with Anti-Money Laundering and KYC regulations, failed to send me a client care letter in compliance with SRA rules, and refused to write the letter to the accuser. When I chased up, he told me to write the letter myself, but then refused to return the fee which I paid to him to write the letter. He lied and told me that the £80 was a fee for him to seek advice from other lawyers as to whether he could write the letter or not! He then proceeded to breach my privacy and solicitor-client confidentiality by causing a scene in his church and telling everyone who cared to listen about my case, when I requested that he refunded me my money!!! I warned him that I will file a formal complaint against him for theft with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and he coughed out the money on the spot!

His negligence caused me serious harm and untold suffering as the case escalated beyond my belief. Avoid this solicitor at all cost.

      I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

I was referred to this Solicitors by a friend who is also a Solicitor, as I reside abroad and was being sued by a credit card company for monies I knew nothing about said debt but because I owned a property in the UK and my address was used, the credit card tried attaching the debt to my property.
When I spoke with the solicitor, first thing he wanted was how payment of 350 was going to be made which immediately put me off!! Clearly, I was referred by another solicitor and expected a bit of trust. Until money was paid into his account and he confirmed before he would start on the case. They did not issue receipts by the way and wonder if this is for tax purposes!!
The solicitor asked lots of questions and seemed to know what he was doing and I telephoned regularly to check with him before the court date. It was then I found out that someone else would be going to court as he had another case to attend to. I was furious and felt I had been duped which I had and then I had to keep chasing by phone and emails to find out outcome from the courts but never heard back until one day, just got the judgment emailed with no explanations. I obviously let my friend who is a Solicitor know about the entire unprofessional situation and advised him not to refer anyone to the firm.
