I first used them around 5-6 years ago for first time buy. I had frequent contact, everything was smooth. Naturally... I went back to them 5-6 years later for the second move. I ignored the negative reviews on google etc as I had first hand experience with them. I should not have ignored the reviews.... this firm is a joke. Firstly, forget communication. That's non-existent. Now factor in multiple failings, solicitors not turning up for work and other solicitors in the firm have no idea where yours is. Mine never EVER called back, even once no matter how many times I requested. I've never actually spoken to her at all the entire time. (6-8months) I don't know what has happened to this firm....failing to send you vital documents that need to be witnessed and signed before exchange can take place which delayed exchange causing my buyer to have to seek extension on his mortgage offer.... just to name a few things... but the solicitor I was assigned last time at NBM is no longer working there it seems - perhaps he was the only good one? Even on day of completion, I was left in a car park waiting for the contact with regards to new keys, our chain was very small. 1 link, and I didn't get a call and waited from 9am to 4pm in the car park before I started to get very concerned... and contacted solicitor (who was not in....) and then estate agent who discovered that exchange was taken place and I could collect the keys hours ago but NBM failed to tell me....anyway, shocking service. Will NEVER ever use these guys again and I urge you to reconsider.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I’m sure all of the positive reviews are fake. If you end up getting Luke Licence as your solicitor then god help you. He has half a brain cell at most and that’s probably a compliment. No communication, no customer service, they are run by clowns. They can’t even fill out a template correctly! We were quoted an original price and they charged us nearly £1000 more with no explanation. We purchased our first home and there was no chain but it somehow took them over 6 months. Incompetence at its finest.

Waited over 2 months to raise a major issue then would not action and wasted a further month, cost everyone the sale. Buyer complained about their lack of communication, we appeared to tell him more than they did.

Would not use this company again. I've used 3 times previously but after my most recent experience I'd never use again. The team was not responsive to myself or the buyer, they said they had chased documents but when I called companies to get it myself they confirmed they hadn't been called and they never respond when I raised formal issues. The whole process has been stressful and is still ongoing. When you escalate to a partner and still get no response you know the company doesn't care about its clients.

I appointed NBM law to act for me in a property purchase and part of the purchase was to extend the existing lease on the property. I understood this process to have been completed, however, 2 years later whilst going through the process to remortgage it was brought to my attention that I only have 43 years left on the lease.

I’ve lost count of how many phone calls and emails I have made to get an explanation for this, to which I have had just 1 reply, 4 weeks ago.

I’m currently stuck paying premium rate mortgage payments costing me significantly extra each month and unable to move on with my new mortgage. I am also unable to get the assurances I need that the lease is taken care of which could impact any future resale of the property.

It’s now been 5 months since I brought this to their attention and we are no further along. My lease is still not registered and even after a formal complaint, NBM law are now not responding to any emails. Disgusting service, the owners should be utterly embarrassed with the appalling way this has been dealt with.

I have had an issue with NBM from a purchase I made using them in 2014. 6 years on I found they haven’t submitted all of the correct forms to the land registry transferring the garage into our names. The garage has a separate title as it is leasehold. So we are left unable to sell the house. Negligence at its finest on both counts

I do not use these words lightly : unprofessional, inefficient and impolite.

Don't expect this firm to communicate with you and keep you in the loop. They won't complete any tasks quickly and will ignore your emails or emails of anyone representing you. In my case, I unfortunately had the misfortune of working with Charles Kelly who already has a number of negative reviews directly citing him.

Avoid at all costs even if it means you spend a little more.

Very poor customer service, it was near impossible to get any communication from them. Had to call every step of the way to chase and ask about our case, it was DIY house move. Due to poor communication, our move was delayed to after lockdown despite one simple
Communication that could have prevented from a 3 month hold up. All in all took 7 months from quote to completion. When speaking to them, they were extremely rude, denying facts that had happened and only seemed to be looking at our case when we called. Yes it isn’t the most expensive, but this is for a reason. Very poor experience and would not recommend to anyone.

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT !!!
I used this firm last year, and here some of my hurdles.
My case was handled by NBM Eason, the guy was very slow and not really helpfull on my requests.
When I raised a complain with NBM Law they just forwarded my e-mail to the solicitor handling the case, and thats it.
      The guy later retired.
My seller pulled out so I started claiming back the "Search Pledge" which said I will get back money spent on searches up to 300 £.
But it turned out only searches which were done by OneSearch, obviously nowhere it said which searches where done by who, I found out later that only half the money was covered by this scam insurance.

      Bottom line:
      Bad service
and not clear what is covered under the search pledge until you need it.

NBM is very slow to respond and lack basic communication — they rarely reply to emails, never answer the phone or reply to voicemail. If you visit them in person they will make excuses and tell you they're not around. The whole time I've felt as though I've been project managing them and going round in circles as they kept asking for paperwork I'd already sent them and make me feel as though they were missing things or making mistakes, which didn't fill me with confidence! As someone who was new to selling, I'd advise that they should be avoided at all costs!

I originally instructed NBM on 27th June 2019 and chose them due to their low fee. They eventually completed my house purchase on 31st January 2020 and this only completed because my mortgage offer was expiring and they were at risk of not being paid, and wouldn't have gone through if I hadn't been chasing them daily and the estate agent chasing the vendor's solicitor regularly, as NBM only spoke to them on 2-3 occasions. The vendor lost his house purchase because of the amount of time that this case took.
During this extremely long time, the welcome team was nigh-on impossible to contact by phone or email and took days to respond on the case tracker that they tout. I thought this would change when my case moved to a conveyancer but it only got worse.
There were significant delays caused by NBM such as 30 days to send/receive/review the searches, these were simple searches with one of the biggest councils in the country so shouldn't have taken more 2 weeks, it then took 19 days for queries to be sent off the back of this. Once responses had been received, it took 21 (read TWENTY-ONE) days for these to be typed and sent to me, It took 15 days for them to deal with my LISA which can be done in 2 days. These were the most sizeable, preventable delays but there were others.
I was sent a LISA form that would have cost me nearly £3000 had I not known better than these cowboys and they also levied a £75 fee for dealing with "drawing down" this LISA, which involved them sending a letter second class, and did this without notifying me there would be a fee for doing this.
On the subject of fees, their original quote was somewhere around £900 but an additional ~£400 was added through duplicate fees and these additional charges that I'd never been notified of. It wasn't until the evening before completion (the email was sent whilst they were out of office so I couldn't call them, I presume this was done intentionally) that I was told I need to pay them an additional £274 or the purchase wouldn't complete. Doing this the evening before is cowardly, and didn't give me a chance to dispute the additional charges as they'd backed me into a corner and threatened my purchase.

I implore anyone considering using this firm to not be drawn in by their low fee as in this instance, you're paying way over the odds for the service you will get. My purchase would have gone smoother, faster and considerably less stressful if I had done the work myself however any competent solicitor could have completed my case in 3-4 months.

Very efficient and they always answer all queries within 24 hours. When you engage their services they set up an online progress tracker for your property sale/purchase so that you can check back and see what stage you're at. My only criticism is that this does not get updated, which is a shame as it is a great idea in theory.

One word to describe this firm: DREADFUL.

I am very very unhappy with their service and am referring to the legal ombudsman. Their level of professionalism is quite frankly a joke. Eight months down the line, with no chain on either side, I was forced to sack them in order to save the transaction. Even then they took days to action my request and return my deposit money: a very stressful situation for myself!

The entire process made me very ill with stress and worry. The firm lied about paperwork, did not answer letters or e-mails, were extremely rude when I could finally get hold of them and the actual solicitor working on my case was always "in a meeting" therefore was unable to speak to me himself. I spoke to the solicitor a total of once - and he was quite astonishingly more rude than his assistant. This level and standard of communication is completely unsatisfactory.

You essentially have to beg this firm to work on your file. And even then it is dubious as to whether they will actually do anything.Spend a little extra money and go elsewhere. This firm should not still be in business. Hindesight is a fine thing but if I could go back and have gone with someone else I would have. Please listen to the advice of a very stressed and tired previous client of this firm and go elsewhere! The extra money is worth the sleep at night!

We decided to move once accidently finding a property we found on the south coast and decided to relocate, now because of NBM this dream is slipping away....
We Instructed NBM 5th September 2014
Had on going problems with them not returning calls to us and our buyers solicitors. They have lied about paperwork they say they had requested and had not when we contacted our freeholder.
our buyers solicitor got in touch with us via the buyer who said they was not returning his calls.
We made a formal complaint 5th January 2015 and they replied on the 11th January 2014 - saying they would speak to the team and they are sure things will speed up. They have not addressed one point in our complaint.
We then lost our buyer due his mortage offer running out due to our solicitors taking so long to proceed with the relevent paper work.
We not have a new buyer and need to complete in 7 weeks and our solicitor is not returning our emails or calls. can only get to speak to his assistant and they constantly say he in a meeting or on the phone.
We have found lots of people online who have had problems with this company. Even people not being able to compete or move. Another
Person said they are holding funds that was meant to be transferred to him From his house sale.
We Have contacted the Legal Ombusman and they have said we need to wait but all they can do is contact them to say we are not happy with their service.
We don't know what to do next.
The company are rude and unproductive. Spoke to few other solicitors to take over our case but they need our file and we can't get to speak to them to get our file.
What can be done? This company are ruining people's lives with one of the biggest purchases people make. Moving is stressful and this company make it so hard.

18/12/14 - Reviewed by Yet another unhappy NBM customer

NBM should be ashamed of the appalling service they provide. They jeopardised the sale of my property on more than one occasion.

In the month preceding the sale I had to phone them almost every day to get them to do any work on my file.

They sat on correspondence for over a month and always sent incomplete responses so the buyer's solicitor had to resort to sending them idiot proof letters which NBM again took ages to respond to.

NBM also often refused to communicate by email to speed things up despite imminent deadlines and they regularly lied about when documents were sent or received. Because of NBM's delays I had to hand-deliver some documents otherwise deadlines would be missed and the sale would fall through. It was only because I took the initiative that the sale actually went ahead; NBM couldn't care less about deadlines.

The staff were also rude and have awful attitudes towards customers. I formally complained about the behaviour of one member of staff and I didn't even get the courtesy of an acknowledgement.

NBM also discourage customers from complaining by stating in their t&cs that all work on the customer's file will be put on hold pending an investigation into the complaint. So in other words, if you actually want to buy/sell a property, don't complain!

I totally agree with all of the negative comments made my others on this review. I dealt with James Broadhead who was incredibly rude when I could eventually get him on the phone, he had no customer service skills at all, suggested that it was my fault that communication had been so poor and insinuated that he would like to be incredibly rude to me but withheld due to his own professionalism!!! I have to say that the initial response to wanting to engage them was dealt with quickly and efficiently and the quote I received was the amount that I paid however in retrospect I would have preferred to have paid more and received better customer care.
Oh and if you did want to make a complaint to the company James Broadhead would have been the person who would have dealt with it so you would be wasting your time!!

Unbelievably poor level of service from this firm, specifically Richard Broadhead's team. Currently trying to exchange and called up to find out if final docs required had been received. Was told they hadn't been received for two days and then suddenly told actually they had been received two days ago but wouldn't be looked at for another 4 days as post can take 7 DAYS to turn around.

The staff are rude and sarcastic and it is impossible to get hold of Richard, he will not talk on the phone and will only resort to email as he deems himself to high up to talk to clients that pay his wages. It is now almost a week since our docs were received and I have asked for rough guide as to when we can exchange only to be told that they don't know until they look at the file and they don't know when Richard will have time to look at the file.

There is no sense or urgency and no sense of customer care. They work 9-5 and turn the phones off from 1-2pm to preserve their precious lunch hour.

All in all a terrible service from a terrible Soliticor. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

This has got to be without doubt one of the worst examples of poor client care that I have ever experienced from any company.
Richard Broadhead's level of service and communication is awful, even when given multiple chances to put things right, he still hasn't been able to provide a reasonable level of client service. Do not make the mistake of calling him as you will just be greeted with a terrible attitude and he is not interested in anything that you have to say or any feedback. If you ask a question about the status, you are rudely interrupted and told that it will be dealt with when he can get round to it. Internally, it appears that nobody communicates, the delays are ridiculous, the customer service is non-existent, documents are not read, items are missed, the list goes on!.

They have no concept of or interest in customer care. I have just completed a purchase where I spoke to my solicitor only once - a mistake on her part. Few of my calls were returned. All paperwork was sent to the wrong address for the 1st month. Their objective was to do the absolute minimum and pass the maximum amount of work to juniors and assistants who had the unpleasant job of dealing with angry clients. Another pile of evidence on why the Solicitor end of the legal industry needs to be nuked.

A month later, Richard Broadhead claims to be acting "at all times in my best interest" but, in fact, hasn't actually acknowledged to the seller's solicitor that he is even acting for me. Such a pity because they have a really good website and price structure. If only they were professional and didn't just sign up clients they clearly don't have the capacity to deal with they would have a great business model. Now I've had to find a new solicitor because something has to happen!

it's the most awful service I have ever come across. The solicitors think you are so desperate as to why you are using them, which is why they treat you with unprofessional manner, cynical and attitude that they don't care as if you are on their payroll, they dont realize that we are paying their wages at the end of the day. It takes almost 2 weeks for someone to answer calls, no one picks up the phone, no one response to emails, your instruction for completion are completely ignored, I am not even sure if they read it. The completion drags on and when you managed to get through to the office and insist that you want to talk to a solicitor, the solicitor will turn around and say to you"your wasting my time". They don't value customer loyalty at all, they are cold and out of this world. In their opinion, they think customers need them, they dont need the customers. Soon, you wish will come true!! Awful service, DO NOT USE IT.

Stunningly bad. My stomach still feels like its twisting up nearly 2 years later.
Purchasing from mother in Law so I had a branch of NBM dealing with each side and I dealt with both of them. No chain, no confusion, no question or disagreements.

I did find talking with the office staff far more effective than the solicitors, it seems they are there to just sign things.

Numerous delays and mistakes, difficult to contact and get an answer.
They forgot to get us to sign something and noticed the day before exchange so asked us to 'pop in', we're a completely different city! Its not like the address isn't on every piece of paperwork
They also charged me for things I did (filling out my own SDLT1) and when I questioned them about it it took ages to convince them to return my money, the money they returned was short of VAT, so they sent a bit more back but they seem to think VAT is 12%. I never received the remaining amount.

      Terrible, terrible, terrible.
Started the process in May, which all parties expected to be completed by late June or early July, as there was no chain (our buyers had already sold and were due to complete) and we were buying a new build.
Now just coming to September and still not even had documents. We, along with the estate agents and the developers agents call every week in a vague hope that this will push them along. No such luck. They are rude and condescending when talking to you and when we asked to come to their offices for an appointment, we were refused stating that they are far to busy. When we made a formal complaint, we received a veiled threat in the form of an email stating that if we progressed with the formal complaint that all works on our case would stop until it was investigated, however if we did not make a formal complaint then they would continue on our case. Customer care to be proud of.
If you are thinking about employing these numpties you may want to look at the other reviews about them on this and other independent review sites. Funny how you can't put a negative review on their website.

They cannot warrant the name professionals, they seem to have no idea how to do a professional job. NBM in Leicestershire - I would not use or recommend this firm. Our chain was held up by this one man and his horrendous staff by months! All solicitors, agents and buyers/vendors got involved and it still didn't rattle their cages. I wouldn't be surprised if they also write negative reviews!

Firstly the case file wasn't even opened for several weeks having not communicated with their client, their agent or the solicitor on the other side. On chasing, the acting solicitor was rude and obnoxious to all that spoke to him including his PAYING client. His admin staff weren't much better being very unhelpful and dismissive. Even on exchange and completion, they sat on funds and contracts for days. Lots of broken assurances causing much upset and frustration to all involved.

If I were you, take heed of the negative reviews and choose another Conveyancing firm.

DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! I wouldn't even given them 1 star but it didn't let me submit without.
I bought my house at the end of October 2012 and have only just received all the relevant documents! They are very slow in replying to emails and when they do they are very unclear. They never ring to let you know what is going on, you have to keep on to them with everything. They made mistake after mistake, first one being that they took a payment from me for a search on the house, after a month I contacted them to find out what was going on, they said if I wanted to have the search done I would have to make a payment for it! The payment I had already made!! They checked and oh yes, so the search hadn't even been applied for!!!! Was then told the check usually takes two weeks, so after a month I asked them what was going on, they said they would chase them up but why had they not already done that!!! I had to keep ringing and emailing to check that they were doing everything and reminding them as they seemed to just keep forgetting what they were meant to be doing, what I was paying them to do I do not know!
It just so happened to turn out that both me and the person selling the house decided to use NBM by complete coincidence (and both regretted!!) Anyway at literally the last moment, about a week before completing I was sent a letter to let me know we were both using the same solicitor and that this could cause problems so I had to sign to say I was happy to use the same solicitor or I could change!!! Well with a week to go I didn't really have a choice to change did I? Why they didn't send this letter out in first week I don't know.
When things took so long they would use the excuse of it being the sellers solicitor!!! Er hello they were the same company and probably just down the hallway!!!! Ridiculous!!!
Poor service, poor customer care, slow and unhelpful.
Ok so they are cheap but you definitely get what you pay for, do yourself a favour and pay a little extra on a different company to get a better service.

Avoid at all costs. It took nearly 6 months for this shower to complete on our purchasers sale and purchase. We were left living out of boxes for 4 weeks. When the exchange (October) was arranged we found out that they hadn't done any work since July! At exchange important documents were missing. To complete they never came up with the Transfer Deed, my solicitor had to draw it up or we wouldn't have moved on time. When you have cancelled uitilities and re directed post to a house over 45 miles away, it is incredibly distressing to hit a brick wall. These people do not respond to faxes, emails and phone calls from other solicitors and agents. I cannot begin to tell you the distress they have caused. Seems that you either love them or hate them. Some of these comments refer to estate agents comments, maybe they are comments by agents? I don't know. Personally I have always found the opposite to be true, the estate agent tends to be the one causing all the hassle and panic and the solicitor is the calm voice of reason keeping everyone sane.

Really, don't you go to solicitors to make sure that they do the legal side of things properly? Provided they do this I have no beef with them and would not even value an estate agent's opinion on the subject.

Anyway, I have used this firm for conveyancing before now and had no problem with them at all. Didn't feel like commenting until I saw all this bad mouthing going on which seems a bit pathetic to be honest.
