Has to be the worst company ever! Told me my case was 98% watertight and that opponent had zero chance of success, took control and gave advice for the first 2 years then when things didn't go as they planned, back tracked and asked for my instructions - when they were advising me?? Then to cap it all at the end of a case, billed me for tens of thousands of pounds more than their original quote. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of these cowboys!! Do not engage them under any circumstances.

Aside from ignoring emails and telling mis-truths consistently, they made errors and failed to advise on basic things that caused delays. Their processes were antiquated and time consuming and they never confirmed receipt of anything, so I had to chase constantly. And, my solicitor left the firm half way through my case, without any notice or communication and it took the new one a week to catch up.

In summary, a really poor service and not good value for money. I would not recommend them and in fact would actively discourage anyone to use them.

Some three months since I gave feedback online at their request, I have heard nothing from them which only confirms my suspicions that client care is not a value of this firm.

1,157 days for a basic claim, and still not completed. Thats how long this firm have already taken to process my 14 year old daughters claim for a motorcar crash injury. They simply do not care about the harm and pain my daughter has suffered and seem simply incapable of actually doing anything at all. Thats is nearly 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And still every time I chase them for an update (they will NEVER get back to you or update you) they just lie and delay the process even more. The other party admitted liabilty in 2014!!! Words literally fail me as to how shoddy this firm and staff are. Please, read the other reviews for their poor service all over the internet and AVOID

      Legal aid

Stephensons Solicitors along with one other law firm to my knowledge were given the Legal Aid Contract from Civil Legal Advice. The team advise that they specialise in Discrimination however when viewing the Partner or Owner for this section on Linkedin Mr Andrew Leaky there is no mention of any Equality specialism. The department was helped to be run by a "Trainee Solicitor" Alicia Bradley. On September 1st a Legal Aid Application was submitted where they valued a claim at circa £106,000.00 and with a success rate of 60-80% within 2 weeks the claim plummeted to as low as £660 with very limited chance of success following alleged expert advice provided by a barrister. When a letter was submitted by the client to raise concerns with how a Partner could leave the running of a file to a Trainee and then rubber stamp an application stating that it had a value of £106,000 then within weeks the value had dropped to £660 the response from Mr Andrew Leaky and Ms Alicia Bradley from the Leigh office was that they would do no more work or very limited and went against the barrister's advice to resubmit a correct Legal Aid application.. In my opinion this constitutes an abuse of power and that of vindictive and malicious conduct. Clients should not be penalised because they raise a genuine concern. If you went for a job and was offered a salary of £30,000 and then on pay day you only receive £50.00 any normal person would raise a concern. The complaint procedure was not complied with by Mr Leaky advising that upon receipt of the said clients letter within 48 hours a full investigation had been concluded and that the client could not engage in any further part of the complaints procedure but should should submit a concerns to the Legal Ombudsman. In my opinion this does not demonstrate a duty of care to a client when deadlines were fast approaching and they refused to do any more or very limited work. I raise the question are solicitors who are blowing the " Legal Aid " trumpet that is they wish for the regular Joe Blogg on the street to have access to justice doing so because they care about the normal man on the road or is this because they wish to raise further funds for their practice from the public purse?. Why would a firm submit an application to the Legal Aid stating that the value of a claim was £106,000 so that they would receive funding to act for the client when in fact the truth was that the value of the claim was as low as £660.00. The regular man on the street as been stitched up enough with the massive reduction of Legal Aid and now what appears to be the abuse of it by these two individuals as well.

I wrote about this case some 9-10 years ago, Forgot to update that I progressed the case via Direct Access Barrister and received an out of court settlement of £25,000. A far cry from both Stephensons valuations of £106,000 and £660 which ever you compare. If I had listened to them and thrown the towel in looked what I would have forfeited.

They made a error in a property transaction that has resulted in a large delay and several very long and difficult discussions to try to get them to sort it out. Despite them finally agreeing to put it right I will still be several thousand pounds out of pocket as a result and they have no interest in offering any form of compensation for my losses. I would never use them again.
