Waited for 10 months and still waiting for the documents they promised to provide upon completion. The service was alright before I pay them, but after the payment, the waiting time for getting a response from them is usually around 4 weeks. Would not recommend Thackray Williams LLP to anyone.

The worst possible service by an individual who was both incompetent and self-serving. He expected to be paid 'top dollar' for almost nothing, even charging for the consultation to determine whether he would take the case. The most unjustifiably arrogant, self entitled and ignorant lawyer it has ever been my misfortune to come across, and I have considerable experience of lawyers. It is almost impossible but he gives lawyers a bad name.
I would not use them to help cross a road, much less represent me in any matter legal.

The service was atrocious. It took them too long to assist us and charged us £900 for preparing a generic contract/Staff handbook which wasn't specific to our company and seemed as though it was a generic copy they had. When we requested amendments which required copy and pasting from what we have on our website and sent it in an email and requested to change staff names to their titles only they charged us £1800 (this included a less than 10 minute phone on legal advice). When we disputed this we were given no assistance and referred to the debt collection team. We as a company will never be using their services again and would not recommend them to anyone.

We have now looked into this matter for you.
On 23 May 2019, it was agreed that a review and re-draft of your contractual documentation would be undertaken for the fixed cost of £1,250 plus VAT. We were then subsequently asked to review and amend your GDPR policies. In addition to this, our employment team provided you (and your colleague) with advice in relation to employee issues arising (again, outside of the original retainer). At the time of billing, you were provided with a full time and cost breakdown of the work undertaken on your behalf and advised that despite extensive additional work being undertaken, our fees would be capped at £1,500 plus VAT. The costs breakdown provided to you itemised the additional time spent on your matter and the telephone conferences held, which far exceed 10 minutes, as suggested by you.
We understand that there have been e-mails to you confirming the position previously however, are sorry that you remain unhappy.

I am very disappointed with Thackray Williams, and I would never go back there again. Although the service was great I was told that my invoice would be capped at £800.00, only to be invoiced for nearly £1600.00. They have refused to reduce my invoice, they have come back with reasons why they can't. But I strongly believe that I should have been never been told that the invoice would be capped.

Out together the report, got key figures wrong and needed to pay additional because they made a mistake with the land registry. This was months after the purchase was complete. No accountability from their side.

Thackray Williams allowed my elderly father of 88 years to change his Will, even though he had Alzheimers and was being coerced by my sister, who was controlling him. She made my father change his Will to make her sole beneficiary and Thackray Williams went along with it.

Very disrespectful individuals that work here.
The gentlemen who work with property are condescending and mock statements with laughter and sarcasm.
They are disgusting and very rude towards the questions I had while looking for legal aid.
The female staff are very informative and helpful.

Don't respond to emails. Say they will sort it that second, 2 weeks later they have done nothing. Call again and they say they can't find your original email. They then find it whilst you are on the phone and say they will action immediately. 3 days later still nothing! And this is all dealing with a partner...shocking! They are happy to take the money but are so slow and unbelievably lazy! Plus are really dismissive and rude when you chase them.

I had the same kind of experience with this firm some ten years ago and some other reviews regarding this firm I am in agreement with. I tried to extricate myself from these people, thank god I managed to do so before handing over more money for no work just piles of useless paperwork that looked good on a desk when you see them in their office. I would not recommend this firm if you need expert advice, I proved their decisions wrong during my case as I happened to have a barrister friend reading their correspondence.
Finally, in my case they lost important docs, mixed up drafts with originals causing major issues.

Before making a comment on this firm I read all the reviews on this site & found the comment I am responding to the most apt in my particular dealings with this company.
In my case I was given a solicitor that charged a little more on top of the usual rate, I presumed that was because I was receiving or about to receive good, legal advice.
I was charged in excess of £12k for a years worth of, duplicated letters, most unnecessary, repetive emails and when I asked for my correspondence not tobe replied to I was sent mail proclaiming the ‘need’ to respond, the former being the lesser of evils from this company.
My personal experience with this firm left a nasty taste in my mouth due to the lack of appropriate & correct advice spanning a year. I Tried for months to cut ties with this firm & eventually found a really good Jewish solicitor that confirmed that this company (especially the solicitor I had) was unaquivically not acting in my best interests and I paid the price for my poor judgement in retaining this firms services.
I remain anonymous with this review not caring about the response they may give as it makes absolutely no difference to the incrediebly inept service I received from Thackray Williams and all those associated with this firm.
If you live in Bromley I would avoid them like the plague.
Find out the truth about these people from reviews web-wise if you don’t believe. The truth is out there for all to see.

As a first time buyer the reassurance I craved was not provided. I ended up relying on the advice of friends of family and internet, and then going back to my solicitor with the information i had found, as opposed to the other way round. The experience was very unsettling and creating lots of anxiety. I was recommended Thackray Williams by my estate agent, and truly wish I had not took their advice.

Simply do not use this company. They have made the purchase of my new build flat very difficult. The response time is very slow and they do not coordinate the work internally. I have dealt with 5/6 people from the business all asking for different pieces of information. Some of which has been duplicated and had to be resent. Do not use.

Fees would have been reasonable had they been professional. Our conveyancer at Thackray Williams was lazy, would make us do all the work, had no attention to detail, meaning we had to go over everything she wrote as it was marred with mistakes, and either ignored or misunderstood a great majority of our emails.
I would definitely not recommend as they cause more work than they provide.

Received very poor service. Communication was terrible with phone calls or emails not responded to. During a stressful time buying a house Thackray Williams added to the stress immensely. Would not use the company or recommend them in the future.

We have been waiting over 3 years to have some land changed into my partners name after at least 3 solicitors dealing with this over this period we are still no further forward
We have rang 3 times in the last 4 days to ask could we be informed on where we are and approx timescale left I have asked for at least a email but yet again we have had no response
I would not recommend this firm of solicitors and will be writing to law society to inform them of the poor service
