I dealt with Simon Hedley on the recent purchase of my property and have been delighted with the service he provided. Simon has been professional, efficient and helpful throughout the process. Legal documentation can be difficult to understand but he ensured this was easily explained highlighting the main details I needed to be aware of.

If you're looking for a solicitor to deal with your conveyancing and property purchase, I would highly recommend Simon - you'll be in safe hands.

I certainly would recommend Mr Simon Hedley. He answered all my questions no matter how trivial. His service was first class and he was extremely courteous. Nothing was too much trouble even though he was an extremely busy solicitor. He made sure I felt as though I was his only client! Excellent service.

What a relief to finally deal with someone who knows what they are doing. I am dealing with 3 other solicitors at present each one is a complete waste of time. Simon on the other hand has dealt with everything in an extremely professional manner and has 'got the job done' in a no fuss, straight forward fashion, I knew I was in a safe pair of hands. I, like others on the review site, only wish I had known about him sooner, he was recommended to me and I would not go anywhere else. I've already enquired with the firm regarding their other services and I'm sure that wont disappoint either. Thank you Simon for guiding me through and making it so easy.

Simon Hedley recently dealt with the sale of a flat of mine. It wasn’t a bog standard sale as I owned the freehold to the building and the person purchasing the flat was also the tenant occupying it. That shouldn’t have made the transaction unduly complicated but the solicitor on the other side must have been very inexperienced as she expected and wanted all the standard replies relating to the sale of a leasehold flat. Simon was extremely patient, explaining again and again why some of those replies were unnecessary or inappropriate, which I thought was very gracious, when he could have been more condescending. As it happens he had to get onto one of the partners to get things finally moving, who was pretty ungracious but did, however unreasonably, support her member of staff. As usual throughout Simon was crisp and clear to the point with everything and despite the shortcomings of the other side he got the transaction through. I’ll certainly use his services again.

I have employed the services of Simon Hedley for many years and will continue to do so. I have always found him technically very efficient and able to deal effectively with all other solicitors either whether they are sharp themselves or dozy. He doesn’t stand for any nonsense, as he didn’t in the last transaction in which he acted for me and ran rings round the other side. I particularly like the way that he makes sure my interests are covered in the apportionments and the split of the sinking fund, if there is one, when selling and buying leasehold flats. So many solicitors, in my experience, seem to lack either the attention to detail to do that or just can’t be bothered. Keep up the good work, Simon!

I was extremely pleased with Thomas Magnay and Co - Simon Hedley provided his usual excellent service in the sale of my flat. He dealt with inefficient management companies, a change of buyer’s solicitor and various other complications with great efficiency and I was kept in the loop the whole time. He convinced the buyer’s solicitor to desist from some unnecessary demands that saved me money and the price paid for the conveyancing was very reasonable. This was all done with Simon’s customary humour and charm which makes using this company such a pleasure. Highly recommended.

He was very efficient and his attention to detail were second to none.
He always seemed to be two or three steps ahead.
His no nonsense approach with the other solicitors in our chain helped move things along too.

I was given Simons number at Magnays and he returned my call straight away. I was concerned as I am in a rural area however distance was not a concern. I agreed the price before proceeding and it was honoured despite extra costs. My calls were returned on every occasion and I was strategically copied into every corrospondance with the other solicitors regarding my property. This diffused an accusation that I was holding up the exchange as I had all the emails showing that the delays were not on my side. It also served to keep me in the loop. I completed within six weeks and I can honestly say that as someone who is not used to dealing with lawyers and conveyancing and given I was on holiday for three of those weeks, it was an absolute pleasure to have Simon working for me. He had everything in hand and was extremely prompt. I am sitting in my new property a very satisfied client. Thanks guys.

I received an excellent service from this firm when selling a property. Simon Hedley really went the extra mile and even persuaded my mortgage lender (after a lot of persistence) to waive its early repayment charge because of my personal circumstances. This saved me a very substantial five figure sum, for which he made no extra charge. An amazing result!

Simon Hedley handled our property sale in Sussex and provided a truly excellent service. He kept us copied in on emails throughout, which highlighted that those acting for the buyers were not only extremely incompetent but were even lying to their own clients. His highly amusing and trenchant emails enabled us to prove this to the buyers when we discussed progress. Simon really fights your corner and pulls no punches with the other side, showing them up for what they are. Our estate agent said that the service we had received was the best he had ever seen and that he would recommend Simon to others on the strength of our experience. I would certainly do so too and have. The fees charged were well worth the service provided.

Simon Hedley of Thomas Magnay was simply excellent during our recent house purchase! We were kept informed with regular updates and were provided with thorough and detailed reports for all searches. Also the key points of our mortgage offer were explained to help us make good choices. All work was completed very efficiently and accurately and he was very good at dealing with the other party's solicitors to resolve potential problems. Additionally, all emails and telephone calls were responded to very quickly. Overall a very high standard of service provided for a reasonable, transparent fee. We would not hesitate to instruct Simon Hedley again in the future and would recommend anyone to do the same.

Well what should have been a simple few months process of buying my own land turned out to be a nightmare by no fault of Simon. His persistence, knowledge of this type of law and communication was outstanding. We had frustrations with the other solicitors but Simon kept a cool head and took care of everything, as I would have been stressed to hell! It’s a rare thing to have a solicitor who actually communicates with you, usually their assistants or they just don’t bother, Simon was always available. The job is now completed and if anyone is looking for a good solicitor, look no further. Thank you Simon.

It has been apparent that a high level of professionalism has been maintained throughout the process.
The conveyancing has been performed with rigour and competence.

We currently live overseas and needed to sell our apartment in Newcastle. Simon Hedley looked after us through this process and we always felt that we were in good hands. We did not have to worry about coming in to the office and were able to liaise very efficiently with Simon via. email without delays. He was very knowledgable on leasehold apartments, which can often be tricky. The fees were good and in line with a small firm's fees, which we were pleased with.

Having had mixed experiences with solicitors in the past we were sceptical when it came to instructing one for our first house move together.

However from having made the initial contact through to completion, the process was seamless and Simon was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Every aspect of the process was logically explained and set out which made our lives so much easier than we could have hoped for. Although not the cheapest quote we had received, it was certainly very fair value for money.

We had been recommended this firm by a family member and we have since mentioned on numerous occasions to family and friends how friendly and efficient the service has been.

We would not hesitate to recommend Thomas Magnay & Co for anyone who is looking to instruct a firm for a house move. Fantastic all round service.

I chose to use Thomas Magnay & Co for my property sale and purchase based on a recommendation. As they are a relativley small firm I was given an experienced partner to solely handle my case rather than this being delegated to a paralegal or trainee solicitor. Simon the partner was very professional and communicated well throughout the process. My emails were always answered swiftly and I never had a problem contacting him by phone. I did not shop around for price but I would happily pay slightly more for the service I recieved.

His invaluable legal advice, efficiency in pursuing the vendor resulting in a speedy completion removed all the stress normally associated with this type of transaction.
In addition when I have required general legal advice on other issues Simon has responded without any delay in a easily understandable way without the jargon often displayed by professionals.

My wife and I instructed Simon Hedley on the sale of my father-in-law's house when he moved into a residential care home. My parents-in-law had used Thomas Magnay & Co when they bought the house new 42 years ago. Mr Hedley was first class in all aspects of the service and advice he gave us and 'went the extra mile' on more than one occasion with regard to Powers of Attorney and visiting my father-in-law in his new home. Simon Hedley is singly the most efficient person I have ever worked with. Every document, email, conversation was always sent in my direction if it had been made on my behalf. Simon always had time to see me and made the whole move, from a legal standing, very easy. Simon is a very knowledgeable solicitor and has vast experience in property sale. He was by no means the cheapest legal representation I could find, but he came by recommendation to me, and I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about moving house.

Magnays have been the family solicitor for many years. As usual we were provided with an excellent service with a successful conclusion. Very happy with the service all around and we will continue to be associated with this firm.

I have continued to use Simon Hedley's services for more than 20 years during which time he has always demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and understanding. His work has encompassed both conveyancing and probate and often a re-assuring conversation when required.
I have no hesitation in adding my recommendation of his services to others.

My parents have used Thomas Magnay & Co for over 20 years & always been happy with their services. Sadly I have now had to use all of their areas of expertise when my parents died & had to sell their house. I cannot recommend Simon Hedley highly enough. He was immensely professional but friendly & available throughout the drawn -out process explaining any confusing legalese terms & discreetly encouraging the other side to "hurry up" when necessary. He kept me up to date with everything at all times & could not have been more courteous & helpful at a difficult & distressing time. The fees were very reasonable & any dealings with the office were prompt & efficient.

My parents have used Thomas Magnay & Co for all of the family legal needs for years. My wife and I have used their services for the purchases and sales of all of our homes in the last 20 years.
Last year we instructed Simon Hedley to carry out the conveyancing work for the sale of our last home and the purchase of a development site which was not straight forward. We found Simon to be efficient, approachable and very helpful. He was knowledgeable and offered excellent advice regarding the development site and I would have no hesitation in instructing him to carry out legal work for us in the future.

Simon carried out the conveyancing work last year for a property I was buying. He was extremely efficient and kept me informed at all times - the seller was using a conveyancing firm and I was grateful to have such an expert solicitor who was able to keep things moving speedily. He was always very pleasant and good humoured throughout the process. I have also used Thomas Magnay Solicitors for other services, including preparing a Will and found them equally efficient and impressive. Highly recommended.

We had the daunting task of selling two properties and buying one while working abroad. Our solicitor for these transactions was Simon Hedley. We found him to be totally professional and reliable. His advice was invaluable and, importantly for us, he regularly communicated the status of our transactions and was always available to answer our queries. We felt that the fees were fair and would not hesitate in recommending him and his firm.

I used Simon Hedley of Thomas Magnay Solicitors in the sale of my property. I found Simon to be knowledgeable and of great assistance throughout the entire process. Simon kept me informed throughout, he took time to explain matters to me and If I had any queries he was readily contactable via email or telephone, with a response the same day. On occasions when I required an appointment Simon would make himself available, even at short notice.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Simon Hedley and I would definitely use Simon in the future.

Everything was dealt with within said timescales and Simon was always availiable to speak to about any problems regarding the sale of the properties. We asked Simon Hedley of Thomas Magnay solicitors to do the conveyancing for us on a property. He was efficient, gave us the benefit of his experience in advising us all the way, kept us updated at all times. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The whole procedure was dealt with very professionally and quickly. Since then we have used Thomas Magnay solicitors for other work and have found them to be just as efficient and professional.

We used Simon to purchase our current house, after a recommendation from another solicitor. I cannot praise his professionalism and efficiency enough. Our house purchasing efforts fell through four times and at each stage Simon was at the other end of the phone / e mail with advice as to how to best deal with the situation. Our eventual purchase was not straight forward - very limited access, spring water fed and surrounded by land belonging to half of Weardale - but Simon navigated us through every issue and gave us every confidence to go ahead with the purchase. We could not recommend him more highly - and would use him without hesitation.

Having used Thomas Magnay & Co a number of times now, I couldn’t recommend the firm high enough for the purchase/sale of a property. Simon Hedley navigated a particularly difficult house purchase for us, being approachable, timely, professional and incredibly knowledgeable at all times. Simon is the kind of legal support you would always wish to have when in a tricky house sale or purchase, I will always continue to use the firm in any future transactions and will always recommend to friends and family

As another client of Simon Hedley, our dealings with him have been nothing but totally satisfactory. From the date of our agreeing to purchase the property in question on
24 April 2018 to the completion of all conveyancing on 15 May 2018.. he guided us through the process and all correspondence was answered extremely promptly, usually within minutes. Unlike the man in Australia, we have met Simon..on three or four occasions at his office during that period and found him to be the soul of quiet efficiency...could not wish for better and definitely plan to use him for our next purchase.

I recently moved house for the fourth time in five years and so have a few comparators for the service I received from Mr Hedley of Thomas Magnay.
He was absolutely first class. I would recommend him wholeheartedly.
I was kept fully informed by him throughout the process, which happened to be a long and tortuous sale and purchase with boundary issues and other setbacks. Mr Hedley worked like a Trojan on my behalf and was a doughty defender of my interests throughout. He was so professional. When I was at a very low ebb with a late emerging problem with my sale, I emailed him on a Saturday evening, just so the information would be waiting for him on the Monday morning when work resumed. In fact he replied to me the same evening. I was so surprised and delighted with the exceptional service I received. Hopefully I am now settled in my new home but if I ever had to move again I would go back to Mr Hedley at Thomas Magnay without hesitation.

I have recently sold and bought a property and used Simon Hedley as my solicitor. I could not fault him and would definitely use him again in the future. Throughout the process he kept me informed of everything that was happening by copying me into all his emails and when I needed to contact him via email he replied straight back. He was very thorough and I felt confident that my sale and purchase was in good hands. Money from the sale was in my bank on the same day despite the completion going through late as a result of my buyers solicitors. The two estate agents involved even commented positively on him as a solicitor as they were updated regularly via his emails.

I recently purchased a property and used Thomas Magnay & Co for their conveyancing service. As a first time buyer, there were various aspects of the house purchase I did not have experience of, however Simon was very thorough and ensured I had a full understanding throughout the process.

Simon provided an explanation and overview for each search and was quick to respond to any queries raised. Simon was very efficient and made sure any responses from the third party solicitor were quickly received. I would and have, strongly recommend Simon to others.

Simon came recommended from a family member who had used his services before. As it was my first time buying, I was rather clueless about the various processes involved and Simon was absolutely fantastic with this. He explained the entire process, exactly what was required of me, and was thorough to the endth degree. So much so that I actually pulled out of a purchase on his advice, having found a concerning item buried deep in the contract. The eventual purchase was long-winded due to seller delays however Simon was always on hand and continually pressed to expedite the process.

I would not hesistate to recommend Simon to anyone, he was patient, ever-present, and really fought my corner even when it was not necessarily his responsibility to do so.
