Wilkin Chapman LLP

General Legal advice

2 stars

Wilkin Chapman get the job done but at a cost (and I’m not talking about the mandatory ones we should expect). The cost is in the time (and extra suffering that results) that it takes them to sort out your problem! There is a fine line between being thorough and having things needlessly drawn out. Our problem was 50% caused by the other party 50% by Wilkin Chapman. We set up a litigator who started off putting hurdles in our way then nothing for months until we finally found out he was suffering from personal problems and was limited to what he could achieve. Our beef was simple, the litigator’s manager should have picked up that he was failing at his task. We spent 2 years trying to settle what should have been an open and shut case that should have been settled within a year. An unfeeling organisation that did do a grand job on the probate/financial side but were found lacking for 9 months by the litigation. We all have personal problems, but if those issues prevent you from doing your job to the best of your ability, and even hinder work, then that is unacceptable. I used this company during home purchase and they did the job (but slowly). What do we as a family take out of this? Without our cajoling they would still be at it for year 3 at extra cost to us, so be wary if you are using this company. The going rate for most Solicitors is £200 per hr (some a hell of a lot more), make sure they speed the job through. Sometimes with our Dad’s ex girlfriend (who was a person of low moral fibre) you need these people, please heed our advice.
