The Keywords That Cost

There's no denying online advertising is a powerful resource for any business and most certainly small businesses. There's a reason click advertising works; millions of people see the ads, which could mean new customers or clients. In many ways, this type of advertising is still in its infancy. Generally, though, there are two types of click advertising:

CPC, or "cost per click" advertising, is a very cost effective way for businesses to really target their leads. It can also result in faster success when it comes to spending those precious advertising dollars. What a business owner pays is based on how many times that ad is actually clicked. A CPC campaign can protect a business owner with fixed amount of how much he pays for each click and then provides a ceiling on that amount. By paying only for actual clicks, you save money and reach only targeted customers.

CPM campaigns, or "cost per million" impressions will appear on various websites and what a business owner pays is based on how many times the ad appears. In these types of campaigns, you pay for how many times the ad appears. If your ad performs well and a lot of users click through to your site, each click-through costs you less. The flip side of that, however, is the lower the "click throughs", the more the ad ultimately costs.

The way the ads displayed are the same, it's just the method of payment a business owner opts for that's different.

Google AdWords is the first choice for many. Picking the right keywords is simplified and the process as a whole is pretty straight forward.

For solicitors in the UK, you might be surprised to learn which keywords are more expensive than others. It's actually quite interesting to know just how many keywords that are obviously related to the legal field there are. Take a look -

Note, too, the arrows. Up arrows show an upward trend while down arrows show downward trending.

One arrow is a change up to 1.99%, two arrows is a change up to 2.99%. and anything higher than a 3% change is indicative by three arrows. Next to that is the category the keyword is most often found in.

These are just a few, of course, but they reveal alot about consumer behavior and priorities in their lives. This list was updated in November, so it's quite recent.
