Two Arrested in Robbery and Murder Plot

(Posted on 15/06/11)

Sometimes a rural and secluded home doesn't necessarily mean you're out of the proverbial line of fire, as singer Joss Stone can attest to these days. Earlier this week, police arrested two men who were in the vicinity of the popular singer's southwestern England home. News reports have said the men were arrested with a body bag, maps, aerial photos, swords and rope, though police haven't confirmed that. What they did say, however, is that the two suspects had in their possession certain information regarding at least one person in the Cullompton area along with items that "lead us to suspect that they may have intended to commit a criminal offense".

Meanwhile, Stone's publicists and solicitors in London decline to comment on whether Stone, who's 24, was at home or even the country when the two suspects were arrested. Currently, the men are being held at an area police department, though no charges have been filed at press time.

Stone's fortune was recently estimated at $14.6 million USD by the Sunday Times. She was born and raised in Devon County, where she lived when she found her fame in 2003. Referred to as a "small town teenager with a big, soulful voice" released her first album, The Soul Sessions; it quickly became a huge best seller. She's also ranked as the fifth wealthiest British and Iris pop star under 30.

Update:

The Guardian is now reporting the two men have been charged and are scheduled to appear before Exeter magistrates. Junior Bradshaw, 30 and Kevin Liverpool, 33, both with Manchester addresses, have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. It's also now believed Stone was home at the time.
