When Divorces Occur in the Public Eye

(Posted on 09/04/11)

Piers Morgan interviewed Eva Longoria, the gorgeous American actress, earlier this week. Her appearance was initially to promote a new cookbook, but Morgan was able to steer the conversation to her painful divorce and the fact it played itself out in the public eye. Her now ex-husband is Tony Parker, an NBA star who's a celebrity in his own right. For three years, the couple appeared to be a Hollywood couple made in heaven.

Humiliated and heartbroken, Longoria said it was devastating and the fact it played out in the public eye, courtesy of the paparazzi, added a deeper degree of pain. The divorce took Longoria by surprise, as she felt their marriage was solid. Allegations of infidelity soon surfaced and while Parker says the "sexting" never went further, Erin Barry, a wife of one of Parker's teammates, would eventually be named as "the other woman".

These allegations began in late November and by January, the divorce had been finalized. "Marriage in my family is really a sacred sacrament" the actress told Morgan. She went on to say that divorce was not an option and that they'd joke about her killing him before she divorced him. She concluded by saying, "I guess the relationship ran its course".  Her lawyers did a fine job protecting her monetary assets, as there doesn't appear to have been any stumbling blocks along the way in the aspect of the legal red tape. For now, she continues to relish in her role on the wildly popular "Desperate Housewives" and continues her book tour, which is slated to include the UK within the next several weeks.

Now the question is, how long before she has those tattoos covered?

Piers Morgan's new American talk show has enjoyed great ratings since its premiere earlier this year on Headline News.
