Howard Philip Gruber was the senior partner at Gruber Garratt (now known as Garratts) at the time of the events relating to this decision. He was based at the firm's office at 61-63 Old Street, Aston-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, OL6 6BD. Mr Gruber is currently a self-employed consultant solicitor at Abacus Solicitors LLP and Ellison Thomas LLP, both located at Reedham House, 31-33 King Street West, Manchester, M3 2PN.

Mr Gruber was found to have made payments from his client account where there was no underlying legal transaction and in doing so provided banking facilities in breached of rule 14.5 of the SRA Accounts Rules 2011.

Mr Gruber was rebuked and directed to pay costs of ?675.
