Unprofessional and misleading. I had to change solicitors mid-transaction
My experience with Bennett Oakley has been extremely disappointing. I instructed them in December 2024 for a straightforward no chain sale transaction, making it clear from the beginning my expectations to complete within 3 months. Despite this, after 4 months of minimal progress, no clear timeline, inconsistent and often misleading communications I had no choice to transfer the sale to another solicitors.

I was repeatedly forced to chase for updates (sometimes for weeks) , only to later discover that key tasks had not been completed even after I’d been told otherwise. This included delays of several weeks in responding to the buyer’s solicitors and misleading updates about documents being sent or actions being taken.

The cumulative delays and lack of transparency led to a serious impact on my onward plans. I raised a formal complaint and even after that found out conveyancers provided me with misleading information about tasks completed. I ultimately had to transfer my case to a new solicitor.

This experience caused significant stress, financial implications and a complete loss of confidence in their ability to finalise my transaction.

I would not recommend their services to anyone seeking a professional conveyancing firm.

Terrible. No communication from the solicitor at all, only got told information from the estate agent who also kept chasing. Details sent out with wrong names and then to the wrong address. Somebody else's confidential info sent to us. Would not recommend at all as their tardiness has now lost us a house sale after 6 months of waiting.
