Cooke painter were employed by my husband's late aunty to deal with our children's inheritance from her. Everything about their service has been awful. My son was due to have his money on his 18th birthday, this was a year ago and they are still no closer to sorting it out.
This company claims their goal is to put you at ease, which couldn't be further from the truth. The communication is poor (ignoring emails, not turning up to meetings etc).
Take my advice and AVOID this company!

We have had to endure Cooke painter solicitors since 2010 as they are the trustees to my late aunts will. They state they put you at ease. But they actually do the opposite...... communication is non existent and fail to turn up to meetings. Reported to ombudsman. You will be glad you avoided this company!

I would recommend giving this bunch of cowboys a wide birth, they are utterly useless in fact less than useless. After 10 months of NOT completing some simple conveyancing i had to get rid of them but still had to pay. In that 10 months they made contact once, did not keep anyone informed of anything, not one progress report because i suppose there was no progress, did one face to face meet then insulted me and refused to tell me what the problem was so needless to say it's not over yet. You have been warned people.

Mediocre service where information seems to be drip fed rather than be dealt with efficientIy. I would not reccomend to anyone or personally use these solicitors again.

West Town Lande office used in case of a relative's intestate settlement. It involved several parties, not in contact with each other in the normal course of events and one person was appointed to be contacted by solicitors. These meant the other parties were unaware of what was happening and unable to make any queries or comment until after an event. It's appreciated that this extra contact of including people in an email might increase costs but surely not significantly? Also the solicitor that started the case left and it was handed over , not sure if all the information was assimilated as it was a very very long process to conclude the matter - it seemed to be made more complex than it actually was as I'm sure there are set down procedures for how to progress , just seemed to be haphazard in some of the search stages. Unfortunately, I would not recommend to others.

I have been a client of Cooke Painter since 2014, namely Mihaela Hyett (based in the Sandy Park office in Brislington). During this period, Mihaela has facilitated the sale of a plot of land with Planning Permission (as well as producing an Overage Agreement and Deed of Easement relating to this land), the purchase of two residential properties and sale of one residential property, and the transfer of an area of woodland. The service has always been efficient, professional and friendly, with fixed prices agreed beforehand. I will continue to employ Cooke Painter in the future, and have no hesitation in recommending Mihaela Hyett for conveyancing and commercial matters.

I used Helen Sandrone at Cooke Painter to buy our home. She was very friendly approachable and professional. Would definitely use her services again.

I moved my divorce case from a firm in central Bristol to Cooke Painter because I seemed to be paying a lot of money and nothing was really happening.
A friend recommended Cooke Painter, so I gave them a try. Other than a mix up about where my first meeting was going to happen (they've got a few different offices but their head of family law is based at the Wells Road office), I'm really happy I made the switch, Suzanne Henderson was absolutely Brilliant!!!
She was literally half the price of my previous firm, but 10 times better in what she achieved. She's so calm, nothing surprised her. At our first meeting she explained the way she does cases - do everything you can to avoid having to fight a case in court, but if you need to fight, fight hard. And she did!!! Suzanne was fantastic, on her advice we used a brilliant barrister for the court stuff and we and we got far more from the judge than what we'd been offered by my ex. I'd recommend Suzanne 100%

I have used Wajid and his colleagues at Cooke Painter for many years now, they have helped with several property purchases and sales as well as various family matters. I always find them friendly and helpful, and wouldn't go any where else for legal advice or services. Highly recommended.
