General Legal advice

20/07/25 - Reviewed by Barry Reynolds
I have had a highly negative experience dealing with Frederic Hall Solicitors in relation to a long-running housing matter. They represent a landlord who has failed to address serious disrepair over a period of several years, including conditions impacting health and safety.
Rather than encouraging resolution, the firm pursued eviction based on procedural arguments, despite being aware that the tenant had made repeated complaints over a six-year period, including evidence of serious disrepair.
The court has recognised the long-term disrepair and allowed the matter to proceed on the basis of a potential retaliatory eviction under the Deregulation Act 2015. Communication from the firm was often dismissive and gave the impression of indifference toward the underlying housing conditions and legal obligations.
The case has already involved two court hearings, and the court has allowed it to proceed further, rejecting attempts by the landlord’s legal team to end the matter on technical grounds. That outcome speaks for itself.
My experience has left me with the impression that this firm prioritises defending poor landlord conduct over engaging constructively or ethically. Not recommended for anyone seeking transparency or fair dealing in housing matters.
To be clear, I am not claiming the firm has acted unlawfully, but in my opinion, their approach has been ethically questionable and unhelpful to resolving the matter fairly.
