General Legal advice

I called up requesting some information regarding employment law, to be met with the most abhorrent treatment from the receptionist. She was painfully blunt when I was asking about procedures and to top it off, informed me I was probably unlikely to be able to afford the fee?! I had spoken to her for less than one minute, she asked no questions regarding financial situations, yet came to a conclusion I would be unable to pay for the services! I was speechless towards the end of the call and half believed it was some kind of TV set up because she was so rude. Unbelievable. I hope none of your previous clients have had to deal with this awful woman like I did.

We are not clear whether this is an actual client or is fictitious as we have no knowledge of such a person making a complaint or raising a grievance. Financial circumstances would not be discussed by a receptionist who knows nothing about a case. Most cases that are accepted would be on a 'no win no fee' contingency basis. This would be discussed with the solicitor before assessing prospects of success. This suggests that this 'review' is fictitious as there was no discussion with a solicitor which would be unusual. Our receptionists do not risk assess any cases - they have neither the time not the knowledge. Their role is to refer the call to a solicitor.
Conveyancing/property

This firm, despite having eight days' notice of the proposed completion date, failed to obtain a redemption statement on the seller's mortgage for completion.
As a former property lawyer, I am well aware that this should have been chased prior to the proposed completion date. It seemingly was not. As a result, the proposed completion was delayed. I see, judging by other poor, recent reviews, that I am not the first to fall victim to what is seemingly a lack of urgency and/or professionalism.
Granted, it may be nothing more than a simple bricks and mortar transaction to Freeman Johnson but, more than bricks and mortar, people's lives are affected and they would be best advised to remember that.
