Fussell Wright

Conveyancing/property

1 stars

I engaged this solicitor 22 years on a property conveyance. Now that I wish to sell this property it has been discovered by another firm of solicitors that this firm was negligent in respect of obtaining full and proper title to part of the land being sold. This aspect of the property sale was never discussed or written to me about by the principal partner of this firm. He was more than happy to advise me to sign the completion documents without ever going through this matter with me.
What has been discovered now is that 6 months after completion he was still in correspondence with the Land Registry trying to correct his negligence. At which point I suspect he stopped trying to do this, knowing he would be opening himself up to a professional negligence claim with me if he put his head over the parapet and let me know of the Land Registry''s requirements to proceed, which they wrote to him about 6 months after completion.

Sufficient to say I am now having to pay an unwelcome fee to a competent solicitor to sort this out.

However I understand that Fussell Wright have now been closed down and struck off by the SRA for regulatory negligence, so some sort of poetic justice here.

I entirely disagree, I found them to be absolutely brilliant.
