We used Gard and Co for conveyancing of our first home. We had cheaper quotes from other companies but wanted to use a local firm in hope that the communication would be better.
We instructed our solicitors in November 2020 and we didn’t complete until the 26th of April 2021.
Like another review on here, sadly we had more information from the estate agent and Local Authority. Our lawyer didn’t ask us to consent to searches until February and they should have been requested way before this.
We understood we would probably not be in before Christmas because of COVID but we had to complain multiple times to this solicitor for them to do anything. I filed my complaints with the lawyer but am uncertain how to take it further.
I wouldn’t recommend this firm and tell most people I know who own a home not to use them as well. They were truly very slow and inefficient.

Gard & Co have dealt with my Wills, two Conveyances and two PI claim over the years. They provide have always provided me with an excellent service. Professional yet friendly. Highly recommended.

Although the price was cheaper than other firms, I believe this is for a reason.
Communication has been incredibly poor across the board with our sale and purchase. I have gained more information from the estate agents then from my solicitor. It is fair to say I will not be using them again nor recommending them to anyone I speak to.
My first experience of the company was better.
When you send an email, you expect a response or a phonecall. Or when you request to have a face to face (be it via Zoom/Teams etc) you expect to have a reply to that request.
If you want a personable service from a firm that will respond when contacted then this firm is not for you.

AMY PATERSON has been involved in two purchases for my family that have both been far from straight forward. Amy’s professionalism and proactive communication is refreshing in this day and age, providing and implementing solutions quickly and efficiently. Both purchases were in NW England showing that location is no hinderance to the quality of service delivered. I cannot recommend this individual more highly.
