Some years ago HC&H assisted with writing my Mother's will and they had retained it since. Her affairs were very simple and on her death earlier this year, as executor, I decided to look into winding up her estate myself. I arranged to collect the will and asked if I could buy a couple of certified copies. I was told that HC&H would provide a complete service for a flat price of £850 and no other option was available. In view of this unexpected inflexibility, I checked again with them and the same answer was brusquely repeated. Over many years my husband and I have only rarely had need of a solicitor but we have used HC&H a few times. We will not be doing so in the future.

I am nearly 70 and have used various solicitors through my life and this one is by far the best. Always comes back with updates and to answer any questions. I have used them for a Deed of Trust and buying property. In them you can trust. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others, without hesitation.

In order to tell you what they have done wrong would take hours, it will be much quicker to tell you what they have done right... Nothing!
They can't even do simple maths, according to them 76 - 4 = 74 and when you question them about their mistakes, they simply shrug it off and refuse to accept anything is wrong.

If we had a choice we would have been rid of them years ago, but unfortunately for us we were forced into using them due to their rude refusal to renounce as executors of our Mum's Will.
Mum would be furious if she could see how they have treated her children, I bet she is turning in her grave.

Also I know for a fact that we are not the only ones who are having or have had trouble and problems with these solicitors.

I advise you to avoid them like the plague. Even if you have used them/are using them, and you thing you received a good service, think again, I suggest you check all your documentation carefully, I recon you will find mistakes. I also suggest you check your bill.

These people are apparently "quality solicitors", this could not be further from the truth. There is absolutely nothing quality about them, and they are in fact quite the opposite.
As for their "promises", well these are also a joke.
They claim: "Same day responses" - you will be lucky to get same week responses. "Open on Saturdays" - They are not!. "No hidden fees" - now this one takes the cake, be prepared to be charged thousands more than they originally quote you, without any warning.
And what kind of service do you get for your thousands of pounds... an extremely poor service, I think untrained chimps could do a better job then these people.

They charged quadruple the original estimate, without warning.
As well as the bills provided being incorrect and do not add up. It is clear this firm can not do simple maths.
They have made many, many mistakes such as incorrect info, typos, wrong dates, wrong amounts.
Many emails and calls have gone unreturned/unanswered.
Failed to provide requested documents.
Charging us for things that they shouldn't be or that didn't even happen.
We have given them a formal complaint and many of our issues have gone completely ignored.

Would I recommend this firm, heck no! (to put it politely)
