We approached Huneewoth Solicitors for professional immigration advice. Before attending, we were expressly told by telephone that the initial consultation was free. However, at the appointment we were charged £90.
More importantly, the solicitor was unable to answer the material immigration question for which we had sought advice. She said she would need to obtain clarification from the Home Office and would get back to us. No follow-up was ever provided.
After approximately two weeks and repeated attempts to obtain the promised answer, we were eventually spoken to in a manner we found extremely rude and dismissive. We were told that we were “not clients” because there was no contract — despite having paid £90 for the consultation.
We submitted a formal written complaint and requested a refund. The firm refused and stated in its final response that it had “provided answers to all your queries”. This does not reflect our experience: the key question remained unanswered, which was precisely why further clarification had been promised.
For a paid consultation with an immigration solicitor, I reasonably expected either an answer to the question we came with or the promised follow-up after further clarification. We received neither.
The matter has now been referred to the Legal Ombudsman. Based on our experience, I would not use Huneewoth Solicitors again.
