I found the assistance provided by Nigel from Kidd and Spoors 1st class. In addition the secretarial support team were excellent.
It was insured that I was kept up to date regarding progress and when there were delays these were explained.
When there was a need for Nigel to discuss legal matters with my elderly mother - quite frail, he was very caring and supportive, making visits to her rather placing her undue stress and discomfort.

It's a shame it's not possible to leave zero stars. Now 18 weeks into what should have been a very simple sale with no chain. It took 3 months for Kidd & Spoor to request simple information that should have been requested at the very start of the process. They never return phone calls. Responses to emails can take weeks, that's on the rare occasion that they actually respond. I'm having to do all of the chasing myself. I will be taking this to the legal ombudsman when we complete for a refund on my fees. I am absolutely livid. Utterly shocking service. These people are stealing a living.

Absolutely horrendous firm for selling a house! We are selling a property which has been empty for over 1 year. The offer was accepted early May, this is a first time buyer and we have no onward chain. 3 times we have agreed a date with the estate agents and the buyer yet Kidd Spoor have not replied to one single email in the lifetime of the sale which has delayed us selling this property. This has cost us months in extra payments and every single time I have rang ive been told they will ring me back with not a single callback to date. Honestly save your money, im not sure at this point what im actually paying them for as they are nothing short of useless.

I wouldn’t even give one star. Really poor service. It has taken 4 months to complete with no chains involved and a cash buyer. Communication was dire, frequently had to chase issues up myself and in the end had to go direct to my buyers solicitor. Repairs requested by buyer weren’t sent to me until 6 weeks after they were requested. Did not get back to me to confirm completion date and then had to complete with just 3 days notice. Expected me to drop everything to accommodate. I wish I’d checked reviews prior to using this firm. One positive was that the staff on reception were helpful and polite but my requests for a call back from the solicitor were usually ignored. They seem to spend most of their time on lunch! Avoid like the plague.

After initially reading the reviews on here I will admit I was concerned about my choice of solicitor. I have been proven wrong, the service I received was professional, understanding and efficient. I completed in just over 2 months. I was always able to speak to Philip, he responded to my emails within 24hours and would be happy to chat over the phone. A process I was worried about as a first time buyer was in fact nothing to worry about, I am now a happy home owner after receiving a great service. Thank you!

If I could leave zero stars I would. The service for a simple remortgage was absolutely horrendous. No updates, solicitors with no idea of what forms were required and leaving me to chase up relevant parties myself. If you want a stressful remortgage process left to the last minute then use these.

I would firmly DISCOURAGE anyone to use this firm. They are simply the worst solicitor's firm I ever dealt with.
My ex husband knows someone that works there and consequently thought wise to use them for our divorce.
A straight forward semi-amicable divorce that should have been dealt with within a couple of months is turning out to be a farce and is still not resolved a year down the line. Consequently my ex husband have completely fallen out because they are holding the key to the money transfer.
Solicitors there are inconsistent. unreliable, ULTRA slow and non communicative. More importantly they milk it for all they can. My ex husband is kept in the dark most of the time and has very little communication with them, resulting in huge frustration on both sides.
LETS be clear, they have ZERO interest in the outcome of the deal and the effects it has on the whole family.. They truly do not give a damn. They extend, to the limits, all the deadlines, never ever acting proactively to resolve any issues promptly.
This firm is to be avoided at all costs.

If I was able to give a review with zero stars I would.
This firm does nothing what they are supposed to. In terms of conveyancing they clearly know how to take a clients money and process paperwork. I made a purchase 6 months ago and as soon as I had the keys I raised an issue. They should have raised this with the other sellers solicitor yet I had to push them to do this. I have yet to see any proof of this happening. I have now been advised that they don't deal with this. I should go to a litigation solicitor.
Clearly any issues during sale should be dealt with by the conveyancing team.
I have been advised by another solicitor that I am in the right and Kidd and spoor are not following procedure.
When chasing for a resolution I was told the file was being reviewed by the directors. I then received a letter from my conveyancing solicitor only, with no mention of the directors. Now been left out of pocket and extremely unhappy. DO NOT USE THEM. YOU WILL REGRET.

Awful conveyancing service. I’d never use the conveyancing team again, nor would I recommend them.
My issues:
They leave it to trainees and admin staff who are clearly out of their depth.
You have to repeatedly chase them about every single thing.
They seem to have issues communicating with other solicitors, leading to delays, further costs, miscommunication of information etc
They are disorganised in how they request information from you- assuming you can drop in /respond immediately with single bits of paper.
So, not a happy customer. Nor am I a repeat customer.

If I could give Zero stars I would, never able to get hold of them and on the day of completion I'm told that the person dealing with my house purchase has been changed and they need to fully review my case. Avoid at all costs

Terrible service from start to finish.
I used Kidd and Spoor following a mortgage broker’s reccommendation. The solicitor was fast to complete- 6 weeks from making an offer to completion (although there was no chain on either end). However, in the 3 months Since I completed I have been contacted by several bodies Including my mortgage lender and the leaseholder to inform me of various outstanding legal work, including paying apportionments and basic work such registering my mortgage with the land registry. I had to pay an apportioned bill that I was not aware of 8 weeks after competition, and I’m still getting letters informing me of outstanding work.
In each instance, I cannot get hold of my solicitor by phone or by email. My emails go ignored and I’m told a solicitor would phone me back and then doesn’t. Funnily enough, if I copy The mortgage broker into correspondence or tell them I’m not getting any response, then my solicItor gets in touch immediately!
They took my money, completeled the purchase and have since been impossible to get hold of everytime I’m made aware of yet more outstanding legal work. As I am not a solictor, I can’t track what is still outstanding and am only made aware when contacted by other parties such as my mortgage lender. Avoid this firm!

Terrible service three years to sort out a very amicably divorce. Communicate nile. Never able to get a straight answer and constantly told someone would call me back and they never did. We were told in January that everything was sorted and sent to the court and we are still waiting. I wouldn't recommend this firm to anyone.

Wow - I so wish I had read this earlier - going through a similar predicament with my Divorce they are horrendous at keeping me updating with what is going on and then send out huge bills without any explanation and then I have to chase again to get the relevant information which never comes through in a timely manner then they charge for me chasing them!! I am thoroughly disgusted with the whole service and their sheer complacency with my case. I would not recommend them at all.

If I was able to give this company ZERO stars I would. We are currently 17 weeks and counting into a transaction that should be a straightforward sale to a first time buyer. I should add that they are acting on behalf of our buyer so I may be unaware of their Clients instructions. However, Kidd and Spoor are not contactable. Their solicitor avoids my solicitors calls and does not respond to his emails or letters. Our buyer is also unable to speak to them directly at present (our estate agent has asked the buyer directly)!
When they do reply, they send snooty emails stating something along the lines of "we will not be discussing our clients correspondence at this time"....this was in response to a simple email asking if there were any outstanding queries ahead of exchanging contracts!
DO NOT USE if you expect to complete in the same calendar year! I would consider them to be INCOMPETENT.

I complained to the Legal Ombudsman Service (Case Number: CMP 038547) about various aspects of the service and unprofessional conduct I received from Kidd & Spoor.
The complaint went to a final decision
"Therefore, my final decision is that the firm’s service has fallen below a reasonable standard and I direct that they pay compensation to Mr XXXXX in the sum of £350".
It should be noted that this is within the "significant" category of the what the Ombudsman can award.
I would have no hesitation is advising people against using the services of Kidd & Spoor. My family were long standing customers so it was regret that the case was allowed to progress as far as it did. However the resources Kidd & Spoor used in contesting the case provided validation in my pursing the complaint
