I instructed Mckeag solicitors to carry out legal work to buy a property my stamp duty would be £8400. After a few weeks me and my wife decided to gift the founds to our doughter so she would be the sole beneficiary. I called and spoke to Mr ..of this company and told him of our decision, we told him our doughter would instruct them separately, I asked about the stamp duty which would be nil for an 18 years old 1st time buyer. His reply was "We all know what you are trying to do". We were surprised, we are 59 and 63 years old parents and tought we could gift our doughter so she could be the beneficiary. This is legal and done all the time. He basically told us that we are trying to not pay HMRC. How wrong can they get. We asked him to scalted this. We recived an email by ...repeating prity much the same and said they would not be agreeable to carryout the purchase for my doughter becouse she is not going to have to pay the stamp duty. When she is not taxed for this what seems to be the problem. We as a family are surprised at this lawyers wrong wrong decision
Mckeag needs to review their suspicious way of treating us. This was an honest transaction. We decided not to go ahead with the purchase at all. We have lost over a thousand pound and Makeag wants more money for us. We are very angry. Hope they will review their behaviour towards us.
