I can honestly say I could not be any more disappointed with NBM Solicitors. The service that they have provided me has been truly terrible. I have eventually completed on my property without speaking to Tom, my alleged solicitor, despite multiple attempts. NBM use a conveyancing tracker portal, which has a message function and after leaving multiple messages because I could not contacted them on the phone, I received an email telling me to email and not use the portal!!!!! WHY GIVE ME A PORTAL THAT ISN'T USED!!! Tom's staff are not exactly friendly or helpful either
Now the final cherry..... My fees are TWICE what I was quoted.
Please do not use this company, it is just not worth the hassle
I chose them because the seemed cost effective, but as a colleague told me, pay peanuts get monkey's

We agree with many of the reviews stating that this company is a very poor conveyancer and should be avoided if you value your chances of exchanging contracts within a set time limit.
Our purchase which was a chain free cash purchase, took 12 MONTHS to complete, during which time they managed to send documents to the wrong address (which they catagoricly denied until they eventually turned up with the wrong address on ) ( no apology )spelt names wrongly and advised us to tippex out their mistakes and correct them. denied receiving documents that had been sent recorded delivery and signed for . People dealing with the sale were regularly replaced or had left their employ with the result that continuity of customer care did not exist.
On one occasion having got through to the switchboard ( a very unusual occurrence ) I was asked to hold, which I did for 25 minutes before being told to ring off as I was blocking incoming calls.
I have kept all emails and documents received from this firm until I decide whether to report them to the Law Society
I could write a lengthy epistle on why to avoid this company, but suffice to say avoid them at all costs if you want a trouble free sale/purchase.

I've read so many bad reviews about NMB and people saying they are going to report them to the Law Society, but NMB HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN CLOSE TO BEEN CLOSED DOWN. ive in so much trouble with my name on my old flat and the wont do it. By law NBM are the only ones leagaly that can take my name off. any one else have had this poeple? as i cant find anyone in any reviews saying they have. CAN YOU EVEN GET THE POLICE involed? NBM are crooks!! and no one in the law can do noting to help me. i have to pay the ground rent bills becouse my name is on the lease. i dont even own the flat no more.

When we engaged NBM Law to do the conveyancing for our sale and purchase we thought we were getting a modern, online, efficient conveyancing only specialist, at a reasonable cost.

How wrong we were. It was the worst mistake of our lives, and almost cost us our sale, our purchase and our sanity, not to mention sleepless nights and huge stress.
The office has minions who handle the paperwork, with the main solicitor James B overseeing important bits of the transaction.
For the first 4 weeks they did nothing except send out the usual forms to fill in. They then sat on the enquiries from our buyers solicitors for four weeks, despite numerous requests from all the interested parties, leading to our buyers threatening to pull out of the sale as nothing was being done.

Dozens of e mails/phone calls later, still nothing done. E mails expressing extreme urgency to James B ignored. Phone messages NEVER returned. Not ONCE did I ever actually manage to speak to James B solicitor, despite many messages and pleas to do so, clearly the minions are under instructions never to let him speak to a client. How can you be doing a £800,000 transaction and not be able to speak (ever) to your solicitor??!!
In the end we were pleading with his minions to save our sale and dream purchase (the worst minion was Greg, rude, obstructive, evasive, unpleasant, quite horrible,) he should never be allowed near a telephone or a client. They made clear they could not care less if our buyer pulled out and our purchase fell through.
In sheer desperation to save our sanity and our sale, we moved to a new solicitor who talks to you and listens to your concerns and has hopefully saved our deal.
You are spending hundreds of thousand of pounds- don't try to save a couple of hundred quid by using these clowns- how they stay in business treating clients like this I do not know. You have been warned.

Do not use this firm they are completely incompetent, my Sale is about to fall through because they are not doing their job. They don’t reply to e-mails or calls. It’s been six months with a tiny chain and we still haven’t exchanged.
Everyone is completely stressed and drained from this experience and yet they just don’t care and won’t push us through the last hurdle to exchange & complete.

DO NOT USE THEM, this has been the worst experience of my life and I am reporting them to the law society. They need to be struck off!!!

Have just completed on our house move, should have happened weeks ago, a catalogue of problems with Richard Broadhead, our Buyer’s solicitor...... we are reporting him to the Law Society and Legal Ombudsman due to the stressfulness he has caused during our sale. Had to pay extra money in order to Exchange otherwise it would have taken weeks to happen, then on day of Completion Richard Broadhead had not requested the funds, no due diligence done, my own solicitor in her 30years of practising had never ever dealt with anything or anyone as inept as this. Fortunately with several senior people on his case, the funds presented and we moved...... my advice would be to never, ever deal.
with this company.
He gives the legal profession a really bad name but I aim to take this much further for what he has done in dealing with a small chain. It will take us a long time to get over this!!

If I could I wouldn't even give them one star. My purchase took 6 months to go through, when I was buying a vacant flat and got my mortgage offer after a month. Richard Broadhead refused to return calls, ignored emails and was rude every time I spoke to him. I am making a formal complaint to them and then if this is not dealt with I will be going to the legal ombudsman.

I would hand on heart say to anyone considering to use them because they're cheap to reconsider as you really do get what you pay for and its not worth the stress.

I had a very similar experience. Experienced staff were rude (Here's a tip ... if you don't like a job so much try and get a job doing something else. You may be a lot happier and you'll probably feel a lot better for it).
Clients often have no option but to liaise with juniors who seem inexperienced and out of their depth.
Overall a stressful and really dismal experience.
Don't go with them because they are cheap, this is one false economy that you may regret quite badly.

Absolutely appalling experience... after waiting two months for anything to be done and the house purchase nearly falling through because of thier delays I had to change to a solicitor, who is fantastic... in the lead up to leaving them I called every day for around a week trying to get an update and trying to speak to the person dealing with my purchase ... he never called me back despite multiple requests and the all anyone could tell me for over a month was that he was ‘making enquiries with the vendors solicitor’ ... very stressful experience and very glad I changed to new solicitors now. Even more frustratingly I didn’t even get an apology for any of it. Horrendous experience

At the end of last year, I sold my property in Buckinghamshire, with NBM Solicitors (Chelmsford) acting on behalf of the buyers side.

The painfully terrible service from NBM dragged the sale out excessively - they misplaced documentation that was sent to them 3 times, no one could get hold of them (my solicitor, the buyer, the estate agent), they were reluctant to do things via email with my solicitor, they never answered their office phone, their responses to simple queries would often take a week... it honestly made me realise how important it truly is to do your homework and to go with a solicitor you can rely on. Cheap isn't always cheerful.

Poor service followed by the most unprofessional personal attack by Mr Broadhead.

The initial issue was mostly caused by a lack of phone coverage/voicemail at NBM which on the day of intended exchange meant that myself, two estate agents, and two solicitors couldn't reach Mr Broadhead to arrange release of contracts.

Worse though was that when I managed to reach Mr Broadhead (by going through the new client phone line and asking someone in sales to get a message to him to ask him to call me), he launched into a tirade against me, calling me pathetic. When I questioned this with him he said I was free to select another solicitor, knowing full well that I had no such option without adding six weeks and a lot of expense to the process.

To add insult to injury, the complaint I sent in to NBM Law was not fully considered by the firm, it's clear to me that they are closing ranks to protect Mr Broadhead.

They are cheap, so the lack of a decent service may fall into the "you get what you pay for" category, but there is no excuse for such abusive unprofessional behaviour to anyone, let alone a paying client. I will be sending this onto the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

I would avoid this firm at all cost. Being a cash buyer, with NO strings attached it took them 2 1/2 months to complete and that too after I became angry as to them not doing anything. The papers I finally received from them had wrong purchase price, and that after them aknowledging my previous emails with corrections on the purchase price ! I only chose them because their quotes were a couple of hundreed £ less then others. At the end of the nearly 3 months it ended up costing me waaaay more, as I ended up paying rent for 3 months while waiting to complete. On top of that they had the audacity to charge me £100 extra to "expedite" the completion. I only agreed cause otherwise I would still be paying rent and waiting to complete! Bad, communication, NEVER PICK UP THE PHONES, NEVER CALL U BACK. Never have answers for anything. Every time I asked why are we not ready yet with the preliminary contracts answer was "we are waiting on reports" . What reports? I saw the paperwork. Everything was provided to them by the other party's lawyer and these idiots I hired were just sitting on it!!!! U PEOPLE SHOULD GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALL ABOUT!!!"

Been tricked by previous positive reviews. If you don't want to make the same mistake, don't bother either this firm. All they care is to sell but once assignment is formally made, they then become impossible to get in touch. What's worse, their solicitor - Mr. B. - is not interested in your case, pathetic when communicating trying to have an argument with his client rather than to help, (only when you can get in touch with him which doesn't happen that often) and not very snobby when his client is not aware of the legal requirements.
Obvetall, there's a good reason why they are cheaper, but you will end up spending more in long run. Avoid like plague if you want to save your money and time.

Responses to case tracker updates inaccurate and some of their responses deleted, proof available, I wonder why. All I would say is Buyer Be Ware. And what of all those 5* ratings? They've appeared on successive days, I wonder who submitted them. www.Nbmlaw.co.uk takes the stress out of finding the right people at the right time. I also used a conveyancer, I found both the conveyance and surveyor very competitive and much cheaper than I was offered from my estate agent.

NBM Conveyancing Solicitors have been absolutely incredible! The quality of service is amazing and so comforting during the stressful and frustrating time of buying a house. We were first time buyers and NBM guided us through the process with ease. Our first purchase fell through due to problems at the sellers end. The second purchase was a success. NBM handled both our cases with exemplary professionalism, efficiency and customer service.

My partner and I recently chose NBM for a house purchase. We were allocated a personal conveyancer and the service he provided was excellent. From the start to completion, we were kept informed of the procedures and progress and our emails were responded to very promptly and professionally. I have no hesitation in recommending NBM to friends and family and would certainly use them again.

used nbm a number of years ago but used in 2013. They might be cheaper but they are very slow and don't respond to messages and when they do they are quite abrupt. Pay a little extra and use another firm.I am stuck with them. They were so slow to request searches. Even the mortgage came through before nbm was ready !
Please do not use NBM, stick to a local firm but read the reviews yourself before you decide. This firm isnt very good at customer service and how they treat their clients. They really do think they are doing you a favour. Before you try using them just try ringing them. The sales team answer straightaway but once you sign up you have no chance. Just try it yourself. I wish the SRA would do something but depends if we complain. I will once I am finished with NBM.

Absolutely dreadful. Took so long to arrange surveys, reports and paperwork during the purchase of a brand new property (I'm a first time buyer so no chain) that the vendor almost pulled out. Were horrendous to communicate with - couldn't get hold of Richard most of the time and he wasn't particularly communicative or helpful when I did reach him. Still haven't received my deeds or any paperwork and I completed and moved in last summer....sigh. You get what you pay for I guess. Only one star given, for the sweet lady that answers the phone.

These solicitors have given us no service at all. All we were doing was a transfer of equity on our home which we owned outright. So far this has taken 4 months and is still not over. They requested proof of our ID which they already had, then when chased said they were waiting for money for searches (not needed anyway) but they hadnt asked for this money. Finally after 4 months of chasing we were told 2-3 weeks for the title to come back from land registry and 5 weeks later we are still waiting. We chase daily and get no response at all. We were asked to pay in full so to date have paid and received nothing. STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

DO NOT USE THIS FIRM, everything they promise is a lie and more lies. I instructed them to carry out searches, after taking payment they took 32 days just to request the said. Mind blowing. No one will answer questions or confirm where they are at.

They even asked me to confirm where the house was i was buying lol, and then confirmed to me the wrong road it was on. I politely sent them a google map link to illustrate where the property was. i did not even get a thankyou. I think it would be unfare on the primate themselves to suggest this firm is a bunch of monkeys. the house sale has not proceeded due to the firms time delays.

USELESS. They went AWOL for weeks at a time, never replying to e-mails, never answered the phone. Tried 3 times to charge overcharge me. Sent stuff to the wrong address. Had the vendors HIP for 6 weeks before they realised the search was out of date. Over 4 months for a simple chain free purchase. Totally, utterly useless. Rude, arrogant, cavalier attitude.

DO NOT USE!

I engaged Nigel Broadhead Mynard for conveyancing in December 2008. I needed to complete relatively quickly (2 months and a week) because my tenancy agreement ran out then, and I didn’t want to be homeless. This firm turned out to be my worst nightmare – incredibly slow and frustrating to deal with. In the end I had to pull out of the sale. My solicitor’s rationale for dragging her heels was that the circumstances why I needed to complete quickly were “beyond her control”. Which I took to mean that it wasn’t her problem, so she didn’t have to help me out by trying to expedite the process. Nice attitude!

In five weeks I had not received one piece of documentation on the property. I paid her money for searches, and four weeks later she still hadn’t requested any. When I expressed my concerns at the lack of progress, she printed off the title deed from the Homebuyer’s Information Pack and sent me that. Big deal! I’d emailed her the HIP in the first place. If I’d wanted a hardcopy of the deed I could’ve printed it off myself...

Communications were often unclear and unhelpful. Her reason for not sending me any documents was that she needed my “search/replies to further enquiries/mortgage offer” first. But she’d already had my mortgage offer for 2 weeks and hadn’t initiated any searches! In fact, she’d gone out to the vendor’s solicitors with some questions and was waiting for them to get back to her. Why cloud the issue? Or take these examples from her emails: “Im sorry that my letter has given you the
impression that no more work has been done that circling a property, biro round a property” and “As Richard advised the quote will be as per you or Web quote and will not change from this”. What?!?

Their attitude to fees was equally unimpressive. For example, I had a fixed rate quote that clearly stated: “Completing Stamp Duty Land Tax Return – included”. They then sent me the stamp duty form and told me to fill it in myself or pay them £46 to do it for me. Nice try!

The only good thing I can say about them is that they did honour the “no sale no fee” agreement. Every penny I paid them was back in my account 2 days after I claimed it. But if you want solicitors for conveyancing rather than refunds, you might want to go elsewhere – according to the estate agent, others had had similar problems with Nigel Broadhead Mynard.
