Absolutely atrocious
Absolutely atrocious. Never use this law firm if you want a REASONABLE turn around time.
We have faced several issues with this firm including not being able to locate our building regulation documents as well as finding out at week 17 of the process that the garage included in our deeds was in fact leasehold not freehold and that none of the deeds had been written up to transfer them over.
Week after week we call for an update or to hurry the process along and every week get told we are not a priority. We have also been told on several occasions we were completing on the upcoming Friday, as everything from our end was done however yet again we are still waiting. We are now at week 20 of our process of purchasing our property. Given that we are first time buyers we never anticipated this hold up even within a pandemic. Even still, it looks like we are several weeks away from completion and have been advised another 12 weeks wait could be likely.
We were also advised over four weeks ago to close our help to buy isa's so that we could complete on the Friday coming . As a result every month we are now loosing over £200 in interest. We are also now in a restricted position where if we pull out of the property we will loose all our savings interest in these isa's from the government which equates to over £4000.
If you would like a firm that calls you back within a week of requesting to speak to them, please choose ANYONE other than Gordon Brown Law!!

It would be good to know which branch. Sometimes the problems are specific to the management of a particular office.

It was a while ag when Gordon was still at the helm. the first response after complaining was "Of course every insurance company advises you to deny a claim"
that was before I informed them of my complaint.

This firm represented me and failed.
Resulted in me losing my business, They itemise professional indemnity on your settlement statement and when they are negligent use it to fight you all the way.
Unless you have very deep pockets to fight them the will drag it out until you run out of funds.
***Do not use them***

will never recommend to others as they have made thousands of investors loose their hard earn money and life time savings evaporate into scam.
stay away from them , they will do conveyancing for any scam to make money.
A massive lawsuit will take them to task very soon.

With so many disgruntled customers - can it be known which branch ?. Maybe it is one office that is failing miserably.

Terrible experience using Gordon Brown, especially Daniel Hall at Chester-Le-Street, to handle the sale and purchase of my property. I have had to chase them constantly to do their job, and he keeps being away from the office. My file seems to have been handled by different people during the process and nobody seems to be taking any responsibility. They keep blaming the buyer's solicitors, but I know directly from the buyer that they have been ready to exchange contracts and are waiting to hear from Gordon Brown, whereas Gordon Brown says that it is them. I don't know who to believe! I would not recommend using these solicitors to anyone.

The service Gordon Brown Solicitors provided was extremely poor, they could not keep to timelines and it was virtually impossible to contact them via phone calls or email. The solicitor would reply at the end of the day just before they left and therefore you would have to wait to the next day to contact them again. Dont expect any phone calls back. Extremely unprofessional service. Avoid at all costs!

DO NOT USE THIS FIRM, they take forever to complete, they never answer their phones and in the end they ask for extra money.
I had a terrible experience regarding buying my house, the mortgage was returned back to my lender 3 times and in the end I paid extra money on not completing on time.

These were recommended to us by Halifax as they were on their panel. Our case started in May 2018 and it is October a d still not completed. They do not respond to emails and calls and if I looose my discount offered from the council then i am thinking of taking to court.
Samantha Weston is the most unprofessional and incompetent person in this firm

I agree with all the bad reviews. the lady handling my case was very incompetent, they also lost documents, sent documents to the wrong address. I have dealt with many conveyancers in my lifetime and these have by far been the worst.

Absolutely abysmal service! Used them as conveyancers and received no updates without harassing them myself. They rarely replied to emails and never returned phone calls. They did not inform me that my conveyancer was going on holiday for 2 weeks during my completion date. They were confused about who was dealing with my case in the meantime. They failed to request required documents until the day before completion, and they lost every document that was sent by post and even 3 sets of documents that were handed in in person. These failures resulted in me not completing in time for my end of tenancy, so I had to couch surf for 3 weeks and put all my furniture in storage. My case took 12 weeks to process, despite me being a first time buyer with no chain, as well as the property being unoccupied. I am submitting a formal complaint. DO NOT USE THIS SOLICITOR!!

Do not use Gordon Brown LLP services. Their customer service is abysmal and the solicitor we had to deal with, extremely unprofessional:
- Impossible to contact them. The solicitor wouldn't return calls, or replay certain emails.
- Didn't even check many of the contracts sent to use which contained typos, wrong names or simple incorrect data.
- They put in risk the buy of the flat by also ignoring the seller's solicitor communications.
- Customer service didn't care about any issues with their solicitor.
- When we finally were forced to change solicitor, they claimed they didn't hold any paperwork for our case.
On top of that, we followed the procedure to fill a formal complaint that they also ignored (so a useless process). We were forced to go to Legal Ombudsman.

Disgusted with the service when I initially bought my property. 4 months later was hassled for more money as they had misquoted. Now 18 months on turns out they have messed up the sale and so far has taken 3 months of chasing for them to correct but they dont respond to calls or emails. Avoid at all costs!

if there was a 0 star rating they would get it, I cant stress enough not to use this firm of armatures. how they have not been closed down is beyond me. they are lazy and incompetent, they lose paper work, and I am sure they sit on the paper work literally which gives them the confidence to think they are bigger than they are . serious biggest bunch of ignorant children running the firm and a total joke, caused months of stress and even when threatened with the law society they still didn't pull their finger out.

I cannot stress enough that you should avoid this firm.
I used them for a house purchase and useless doesn't even begin to cover it. They messed up every step of the way, never contacted me or were contactable and only started to rectify the situation when I tried to speak to the lead partner (who refused to take my calls.)
They are a bunch of rank amateurs with no idea as to what they're doing.
Avoid, avoid, avoid
