Gareth Owen of 2012 law limited or ‘Driving Solicitors’, lied about the fees on the phone to secure a £500 deposit… at which point the actual heavily inflated fees arrived in my inbox in written form. I asked for my deposit back - he refused to even discuss the matter - instead asked me to log a complaint instead. Absolute joke of a company AVOID AVOID AVOID

WARNING: Takes money and then sends a bog standard high street solicitor who isn’t even a driving specialist!

After money paid, it’s was impossible to contact Nick or anyone else, so much so I had to create a Twitter account and plaster his posts to gain a response.

Failed to notice a VITAL ERROR, until I pointed it a day before court - court clerical error of Guilty plea rather than NOT Guilty plea.

Subsequently demands over double original fee to represent, then throws toys out pram (posting unprofessional Twitter posts - seems Twitter is a legal ‘thing’)

Pulls contract from me leaving me in a bigger mess than originally!

(Looks like someone else on this site had the same experience during 2020!)

Since last October We have been liaising with solicitor 1. Solicitor 2 on actual court appearance gave conflicting advice that solicitor 1 had been saying since last October.
Day of appearance. Met with Solicitor 2 who was not aware of the full content of the case and was asking us questions regarding the information that he did not have asking us to get all the paperwork from the car. Once solicitor 2 read the paperwork, went onto say that he was not aware of all the content that we provided him with on the day. Although we had sent all documentation we recieved to solicitor 1 since October last year.
To say we were unsettled is an understatement, we had paid around £1,200 prior to be faced with solicitor 2 who did not have a clue of the full facts of the case taking place today.
It was so unsettling as we thought we were working with professionals who we had put our trust into, to know exactly what was going on with our case especially on the day of the court appearance.
Would we recommend this particular solicitor practice? No we would not. Felt very let down by the lack of oragnisation on the day by solicitor 2 and by solicitor 1's input since last October which was very conflicting with solicitors 2 on the day. Aldo the fact that solicitor 2 did not have all the information required that we had sent to solicitor 1. Just to add Solicitor 2 said that he had not read all the information solicitor 1 had sent as it is to small on his phone??
Really disappointing!
I have has to add to add a one star rating as the site would not let me leave the site without leaving any stars which I intended to do.

I am solicitor 2 referred to in the review.

My colleague advised before the hearing to reserve a decision on plea until Anonymous had spoken with me at court and in light of all the evidence. He advised that a not guilty plea on technical legal grounds was an option. At court, we discussed those options and how we could go about challenging the prosecution evidence. I explained why I felt a not guilty plea would not be in Anonymous's best interests having heard Anonymous's account and given the likelihood of success. Anonymous accepted that advice.

As I explained to Anonymous at court, we had requested the evidence from the prosecution and had been provided with papers for only one of the two cases, consisting of three offences, against Anonymous in court that day. I have reviewed the requests made to the Crown for the evidence and can see that we did request all the evidence for the cases in court but they failed to send all of the material. Nonetheless, I was able to obtain the prosecution papers from the prosecutor quickly and provide advice on that case too.

In court, I mitigated following a guilty plea and Anonymous received a very lenient sentence on all three counts that were well below the sentences that the court could have imposed.
