NEVER EVER use this law firm.
My claim started a while ago and lasted for 6 years, my claim was so simple and had been verified by authorities that the car accident was not my fault and Atherton Godfreys used my young age as an advantage to themselves while I trusted them with all my heart to help me. I still suffer with severe anxiety and depression which I now take medication for but somehow despite my extreme injuries and mental trauma I have been left with nothing, not a penny and was even threatened with a jail sentence and all the legal costs to which the barrister who was representing me replies "You have only yourself to blame." They had no plan for court, no plan going forward, nothing. They was quite willing to use me as a sacrificial lamb in court to get their money back. Disgusting.

I would not use this solicitor for conveyancing they took weeks after weeks with the paperwork which delayed our move in date! i would not recommend this solicitor.

Don't bother. You wont win. It will be a waste of your time. This is how these firms get away with shocking service time and time again.

Absolutely terrible. Would not recommend. My case was so simple and the evidence i had against the local authority was so overwhelming i should never have lost. They didnt even submit the evidence i had against the local authority which WAS MY CASE!! They only were in it for the money and seriously failed me.

I did complain. I was whitewashed by your ridiculous claims you had done everything by procedure and you didnt do anything wrong. It was a simple case and the evidence provided against the DMBC was unbelievable and the fact the LGO slammed the DMBC for their serious failings in my sons care. Three S47 investigations not instigated, suspending contact for a year without reverting to court, etc. My son demanding to return to my care as he was removed from my care illegally. There wasnt even an ICO in place at the time my son was removed and you missed it. You missed the DMBC lied to my sons school. You missed the police were lied to. Very simple...read documents!!!
Anyone considering these solicitors please approach with caution as they really dont do as they claim.

I am not surprised with your experience. This firm does not work independently from Social Services or Cafass. Looks like they are in it for the money, striking " deals " behind your back. They use the same barristers in court. They all know each other. This is a serious matter when children are involved. Sorry to say, but you are just one of many people ( nationally ) that have lost your children because of bad representation. Family law is a massive problem because it deals with no evidence; hearsay can win your case. That and also the fact that you are guilty before proven innocent. AVOID AVOID AVOID using this firm.

Same here. Family Court issue. I had stacks of evidence that DMBC was wrong in their opinions. Their reports were not based on any facts at all. Atherton never challenged anything. I gave them all my evidence to use in court, they literally used nothing. They showed nothing to the judge. I started a complaint, but what's the point? These people spin for a living. Yes, avoid this firm. I wish I had read these reviews before instructing them. I ultimately lost my children to an abusive ex partner. Solicitors / Barristers even the Judges no doubt, know what social services are like yet do nothing to make them adhere to the law and pull them up on their practices. Big money making opportunity for all involved that's why. All these " professionals " have an agenda. No professionals are in family court fighting for " the best interests " of any children: they are in it for the money plain and simple. £1000's this firm has had from me. Rubbish representation. They used no law for a start, just watered down legal patter. No fight in this law firm ( family matter issues). AVOID... And they have no understanding of domestic abuse, emotional abuse and coercive control, and how this can be used in the family court by abusive partners to gain custody of children. I would say get a solicitor as far away from the Local Authority you are having issues with, as you are right, they all do know each other. Terrible, terrible experience I've had, I wouldn't wish my experience of using this firm on anyone.
Medical negligence

My cases was accepted by the firm after my initial details were provided to them. They advised a CFA and they took the case in 2015. The evidence and admission of damage is in written reports. The administration failings is also in written form. They were provided with personal mental issues. They had expert advice and recommendations. Yet they (the firm) decided that it was not worth their while proceeding financially. Having dragged their heels for over 2 years I am left damaged physically and mentally. I cannot pursue any further as this firm delayed acting for me to a point that precludes me from proceeding as time has now run out. Don't instruct this firm unless you are closing the lid of your coffin.

It is very disappointing that we were not able to pursue your claim under a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA). Under the terms of the agreement we must be able to prove (1) that the care you received fell below the standard that is to be expected of a reasonably competent practitioner and (2) that the substandard treatment caused you additional harm. As we have explained, unfortunately, despite exhausting all avenues, it was clear from the specialist reports obtained that medical experts were unable to provide evidence that would support both these points. Where a CFA can no longer be used, there is the option of pursuing matters on a private basis. However, we will always advise against this course of action where there is such a high risk of losing the case in court due to lack of supporting evidence.

This person isn't going to complain !! Can't you see what you have done to them ?? I dare say this person is probably crushed mentally and physically by having this experience with you. This is the far reaching affects your incompetence has on people. People that instruct your services only want you to do what you say you have signed up to do: to act in the best interests of your client ! Doesnt look like you've done that here.
