I think it is unfair that having taken all my information over 2 calls to provide Birketts Cambridge with sensitive information about my case provided to them, followed by sending documents and list of questions I wanted them to work with, to give me a quote, that the company only then after 3 interactions, declared a potential 'conflict of interest' with the organisation I was against as my employer is a client of theirs it would seem. This gives their client ' the heads up' . Not the way I do business, as surely transparency and integrity are what we are all looking for when sourcing legal practitioners. I believe the first question before discussing details is, which company is it you want advice on, and that conflict of interest being shared prior to being privy to any confidential information. In the past its been the way ive done business . Vey unhappy and will contacted the Solicitors Regulation Authority about this to see if it breaches any codes of conduct solicitors must follow. Very underhand I would say and at the very least unprofessional practise.

Awful - avoid at all costs if you want your purchase to go through. They take your money (£3000 upfront to get an Interbay mortgage convenyancing done) and then ignore you. It took over three weeks for ONE email to get responded to despite my emailing 5 times, my broker trying to get in touch and myself calling their office. Interbay insisted that I use a lawyer of their choice - not my own lawyer - so you have no rapport with them, you are an unknown face in a melting pot of chaos - and you feel totally insignificant. In the top 100 firms in the country? I don't think so!

17/03/22 - Reviewed by Very poor litigation advice & incorrect completion statement
Birketts were instructed in a property litigation matter.
Their advice was to simply accept all the demands made by the other side. For that, we didn't need them..
They estimated our chances of success at 50% but in my opinion, we had an exceptionally strong case and I estimated our chances of success at 95%.
I ignored Birketts advice and was prepared to go to trial.
The other side capitulated and gave in to all our demands.
Advising us to accept all the demands from the other side was obviously the shortest route to settlement but certainly not in our favour and would have cost us many thousands of pounds.
My decision to go to trial against Birketts advice was obviously the right one.
The original demand from the seller was that we paid their legal fees.
The other side paid all the extra fees that we had incurred which was over £7,000 and reimbursed us about £15,000 in accrued rent plus other costs.
Had we followed Birketts advice, we would have been over £25,000 out of pocket!
Also, the final completion statement was incorrect.
We got a “Sorry”, which is hardly good enough.
A donation to a charity by way of recompense was suggested but not taken up.

We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our service. We do feel it is unlikely that you would have received contrasting advice from any other reputable law firm, however as stated above we are sorry to hear that you remain dissatisfied with our service. A donation to charity was never discussed.

Shocking unwillingness of help to find the solution and the way of the customer treatment.
Service asked: witnessing the signatures.
During phone call I was advised that appointment is not required and we can drop in to the office where the one of solicitors can easily help us. Following the advise we went to office but were refused of help. When we asked whether any possibility to find a solution to help us we were treated unprofessionally and asked to leave impolitely.

We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your recent visit to the Birketts office. Our offices open at 8:30am and due to the current Covid guidelines we require all visitors to have a pre-arranged appointment. I am sorry that on this occasion you were misinformed. However, I understand that we were able to find an available Partner for you to speak to who was happy to assist you with your enquiry. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact Ali Sparrow, Head of Client Development at alison-sparrow@birketts.co.uk.

Untrustworthy money grabbers.
The solicitors may be highly qualified but the service and fees are abysmal.
You are charged for every single quick phone call they make resulting in fees in the thousands to get even a simple bits of paper work dealt with.
The solicitor working for my family was completely untrustworthy and simply offers advice that will result in the largest commission for her, grabbing as much money from elderly and vulnerable members of my family as she could. Despite making several complaints about said solicitor they continued to carry out meetings and get paper work signed in a manner that was verging on illegal.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND using Birketts to anyone!
Unless you are looking to spend an outrageous amount of money on a shocking service that is conducted in an illegal manner stay well clear of this company.

Appalling to hear that... who can you trust.... !? So sad....

Why don't you give their name, or at least initials or department so we know who to avoid? I am thinking of instructing them for an elderly relative too as was looking for reviews and have only found yours. So your review really concerns me.
