Please do not use this company. We are trying to buy a house and they simply will not communicate with us. We, our vendor's solicitor and the estate agent have tried to contact them to move the sale along but to no avail.
Save yourself from the stress and anxiety that we are living through.

Previously used Cook + Talbot 7yrs ago for conveyancing very thorough + professional service received so decided to use again for conveyancing in Nov 2020 ....big mistake ! After 5 months of conveyancing our solicitor left the company giving us 8 hours notice. Our case was given to another solicitor who basically ignored all emails and telephone calls causing undue stress and worry.When we eventually exchanged and completed it took 16 phone calls and nearly 2 weeks for Cook + Talbot to release house funds ! ...2 weeks on still waiting for a invoice .Please do not use this company for conveyancing they offer a very poor service very little or no communication all working remotely hiding under the covid umbrella

Cook & Talbot have been a valuable partner in probate and wills to me and my family since I met them in March 2020 when I was executor of the will of a very close friend. They are currently looking after my house sale and a new purchase too. I cannot fault one aspect of their service, excellent, reliable and trustworthy. I recommend them based on many factors such as reasonable fees, efficiency and communication - they always answer me quickly and guide me carefully. Also, their conveyancing team are handling our house sale and purchase just now and I have similar positive experiences from a great team and job well done.

I am honestly the last person to leave a negative review but the service I have received from Cook & Talbot was beyond appalling. I do not think that Mark Lloyd or his team should be in charge of anything so important as buying your dream house.
There is an extremely long list of issues that have happened during the sale of our old house and a purchase of our new home. I do not have a time or strength to list every single one as I would run out of space but to give an example:
1) My passports were posted to me without paying for postage, just in an envelope– it was a pure luck that I have received it and it didn’t go missing.
2) We were obliged by contract to exchange by 2nd September 2019 but we didn’t exchange until 8th October 2019 and had to request an extension of our exclusivity agreement
3) They have missed out £20k (!!!) of builder contribution from the contract
4) They have once again missed out those £20k builder contribution from the completion statement!!!
5) Finally, I have been now waiting from 18th December for a cheque from them for £500 that I am owed and my phone calls are not being returned
If you want a solicitor that is unreliable, you can never actually talk to them as they are too busy, none of your phone calls/emails to be returned, someone that doesn’t care and is incapable of doing accurate job then please do use Cook & Talbot. However, if you want to remain sane and have some trust in your solicitor, stay as far as possible from Cook & Talbot – this company will drain every ounce of energy that it’s in you.
