I unfortunately appointed Curtis Law to represent me in my house purchase and throughout have yet to have a positive experience. They are completely unresponsive to emails and ignore phone calls without apology and with complete disregard of basic customer service. I have been trying to contact them for over a week for details of final requirements to exchange contracts by the fast approaching deadline and pay my deposit but am being completely ignored. The developer I am purchasing from has banned buyers from using Curtis Law now as they've put deals at risk through their culture of unresponsiveness. The prices might be cheap but when they deliver such an awful client experience you're much better off paying a little extra to use a firm who are going to do the job you're paying them to do.

Did you put in an official complaint against them? If so what was the outcome?

Simply unacceptable service. Once we gave the initial information and statement we were ignored for years! We signed some documents to start and that was all until we got a dismissal letter years after. We have tried to contact them through endless emails and calls for more than 2 years, but no one ever answered. For whatever reason It seemed like nothing was being done at all but we had some Hilo still. We thought that those things take time and tried to be patient. However, we had no communication or updates from them. That is not normal. Then they had the nerve to send us a dismissal of our case letter, telling us they can’t do nothing for us and encouraging us to seek second opinion, only a month before the end of the 3 years that we have in order to seek legal action for the damage. After 3 years you can’t do nothing. This was insulting on so many levels . Who would take this case with 1 month left to sue!? No one. By delaying their response they took away any chance that we had for a second opinion and a chance to seek compensation. They have waisted our time completely and we were even told that we should be thankful for whatever was done, as it costs money but they won’t ask us to pay that. Of course they won’t, as it was agreed at the beginning. We were told however, that if we would like to keep going with the case that won’t be on no win no fee basis any more. We are very dissatisfied with their service and would never recommend to anyone in similar position. As it wasn’t bad enough for my dad to loose one of his eyes due to doctor’s mistake and lack of basic after care at the age of 53! Why waisting peoples time? What do you get out of it?

On 27 August, I began searching for a conveyancing solicitor to assist with my purchase of a new property. I made a point of saying that I was looking for a solicitor who could act quickly, as both the seller and I were hoping for a speedy transaction. Your firm was one of the ones I contacted. From the beginning, Ben was responsive and helpful. He was the reason I decided to engage your services and it should be known that he is faultless in this matter. None of my complaint is directed at him. Frankly, from what I can see, he's too good for this company.
On 29 August, I signed the instruction document to engage your services.
On 30 August, I took my identification documents to the post office to have them notarised. That same day, I sent them via recorded delivery to the address Ben provided.
On 3 September, I contacted Juber, my solicitor, to confirm he had received my ID. He did not reply.
On 6 September, I received a series of forms to complete. On the same day I also received a letter from the estate agent confirming the contact details on both sides of the transaction. A copy of the same letter was also sent to Juber, and should have arrived on or around the same date.
On 12 September, I emailed Juber to confirm I had sent the forms back by post. I also provided (by email) additional documents that were requested. I received no reply.
On 16 September, I emailed Juber to ask for a date of when he thought we'd be in a position to exchange and complete. I received no reply.
On 18 September, I sent a message to Juber expressing my disappointment at the fact he'd yet to reply to a single one of my emails. At long last, I finally received my first message from Juber saying he hadn't replied to my messages because he was waiting for the forms I sent. I asked him to confirm that he hadn't received: the ID I'd sent by post on 30/8; the forms I'd sent by post on 12/9; the documents I'd emailed directly to him on 12/9; or the letter the estate agent had sent him on 4/9. He did not reply.
On 19 September, I sent another email to Juber asking him to confirm (in writing) whether he had received my documents; whether he had received the estate agent's letter; and when he'd be in a position to provide an indicative date of completion.
At last, on 19 September Juber replied to my email. He addressed me by the wrong name, advised he'd received none of the above documents sent to him by post or email, and confirmed he'd done nothing with my case as he was waiting on the documents. I resent all the required documents by email so he would have them immediately. I asked Juber to confirm receipt of the documents as soon as he received them.
At this point, I decided that if he confirmed receipt of my documents that business day, then I'd hope for the best and stick with this firm.
The end of the business day came and went without a peep from Juber.
Whether Juber is disorganised, incompetent, or the victim of incompetent post room staff and email service is, I do not know. I do know that this firm wasted three weeks of what was meant to be a speedy transaction and put the whole purchase at risk.
I am unimpressed. I have now engaged the services of another solicitor. Hopefully they are capable of delivering.

Juber is an absolute joke! your review mirrors ours exactly! saying he had not received documents when he had and not replying to phone calls, emails etc. He sat on the sale of the house for the first three weeks and did nothing and he knew we wanted a quick transaction. If it wasn't for the buyers contacting us directly we would have lost the sale on the house. He should not be doing this job! Useless and he wasn't even representing us thank goodness. The stress he caused for both families was unnecessary! I will be making a formal complaint as he shouldn't be allowed to get away with his incompetence, unprofessional, arrogant and down right rude!

My husband, who had dementia, suffered a serious accident in his care home in July 2014, ultimately resulting in sepsis, and although he recovered, it had a severe effect on his mental and physical capabilities. I moved him to a nursing home and in March 2015, watching his mobility deteriorate further, I felt that he could have a case for negligence against the original care home. I found Curtis Law on the internet; my solicitor there agreed, and proceedings began. At the beginning I was impressed with the way he went about my husband's case, but by 2017 there was little contact from them about how things were progressing, and in September of that year my husband sadly passed away. I informed Curtis Law who were prepared to continue with the case through me. However, after forwarding some relevant documents to me in November 2017, I heard nothing further. In April 2019 I emailed Curtis Law, pointing out the long gap in communications, but the email was unanswered. Today, more in desperation than hope, I emailed the solicitor representing us again, but do not expect to get a reply. I have now been reading Curtis Law's reviews (would that I had done that before I started), and see that many of their clients have had similar experiences. Perhaps this review will encourage them to be more client friendly in the future, but I doubt it.

Used Curtis Law for a house purchase and was represented by their head of department Juber. He was terrible with a really bad attitude & never ever got back to us with any updates. I am a property dealer & bought a house in the blackburn area so I thought I would use these guys but never again. Their office looks all pretty with all the stickers in the windows but their service is terrible with no updates from anyone. Reception would lie & say he's not in when some other member of staff would say he is in only 2 mins later!

The worst service I've ever encountered.
Chose this company due to it being local. A solicitor was assigned who happened to be holiday. I stressed that it was urgent and I was looking for a quick process. Another took over who kept complaining that he was very busy. Had to ring and email him all the times and was lucky if he returned my calls. He would say one thing and the next time, he would change his story. He wouldn't deal with the other side's solicitor and kept denying that he did so.
He agrees on a date for completion and then blames the other solicitor for not completing.
I'm sat in the office waiting for someone to tell me what's happening as I'm supposed to move in 2 days.
This is the eighth house I'm buying but have never know such incompetence, lies and unprofessionalism.
Do yourself a favour and go to another firm.

Dreadful service start to finish
We were assured although our mortgage company were not on their panel this would not be an issue, 3 weeks in very little action was taken on our sale or purchase or panel. Then a further 2 weeks lost trying to solve the issue which we then had to move solicitors... two weeks to send the documents across to new solicitors. Nearly 2 months of wasted time in our sale & purchase. Throughout this time conveyencer was rarely available to speak to and would rarely call back, we were constantly on the phone pushing for contact. I was regularly put through to people who had no understanding or knowledge of our case and had to start from the beginning. The conveyencers we dealt with we' found were often rude and sounded disinterested at best on calls and we were consistently told conflicting information, therefore someone was lying to us at some point. I would never recommend this company and im glad to see the back of them. Awful & a waste of our time.

And got recommended to Curtis law solicitors,
I just wish I had of read the reviews first we would of never gone with them, definitely would never use them or recommend them to anyone in the future, they never returned phone calls emails constantly chasing them for information, definitely not professional enough for my liking, we will probably still be waiting this time next year, the only thing I can say is if your thinking of going with them( DON'T ) find an alternative that will help you much quicker, giving these one star is really too good

I have dealt with Curtis law twice. And I can honestly say they are worst and slowest solicitor firm you will ever come across.
You have to keep chasing them at all times and it's like you are dealing with the theird party solicitor instead of your own.
The staff are polite and helpful, however the system is rubbish. You have to keep chasing them and they never call you back as they promise.
I will never ever use them again and would not recommend them what so ever.

When giving a review of any business it needs to be based on fact and therfore fair comment. This is particularly relevant when making comments about a solicitor who will claim libel if it is not.
My comments are therefore based on fact.
In my dealings with this firm I have had numerous phone calls not returned, emails not answered, , incomplete and out of date information to very important legal issues, inaccurate responses to legal matters, undue delay which resulted in a very straightforward conveyancing matter taking months rather than weeks .
This leads me to the conclusion based on my own factual experience that this firm is highly unproffessional, lacking in expertise, inept, practically no concept of customer service and in comparison to others expensive.
I would advise anyone reading this to make alternative arrangements for their legal advice.

Curtis Law has not been helpful at all, in fact they have been more than intimidaying. Are they my solicitors or the third parties? Keep away from this firm.
Moral of the story: Never trust a solicitor firm who promotes their service too much - no wonder why they are not getting any clients.
