Unprofessional, Misleading, and Coercive Legal Services – A Client’s Cautionary Tale”

I engaged ELS Solicitors Ltd (Mr Vital Ruwala) for representation in an Employment Tribunal claim. My experience was marked by repeated mismanagement, misleading actions, and coercive practices, causing serious stress and financial loss.

Chronology of Key Failings:
1. Initial Advice Failure (Jan 2025): Despite clear instructions, ELS failed to advise on the Tribunal strike-out risk, misunderstood the retainer’s purpose, and conditioned essential advice on additional fees.
2. Charging for Ineffective Work (Mar–Apr 2025): I was billed at director rates for administrative tasks and for pursuing strategies later deemed futile by the Tribunal. Requests for guidance were ignored until payment was made.
3. Harassment During Complaint (Apr–Jun 2025): After notifying ELS of my complaint, I received over 14 persistent payment demands. They refused to pause collections and attempted to gain procedural advantage by demanding I share my complaint with them.
4. Fabricated Court Document (Jun 2025): ELS issued a document presented as a County Court claim, missing an official seal, issue date, and containing irregularities. When challenged, they offered no substantiated response.
5. False Statements to Third Parties: After I left an online review, Mr Ruwala contacted platforms claiming I was “not a customer,” contradicting invoices and retainer evidence.
6. Public Intimidation: ELS publicly named me in a review response and threatened defamation proceedings while my complaint was active with the Legal Ombudsman, causing reputational harm.

Summary:
ELS Solicitors Ltd repeatedly provided negligent advice, issued misleading documentation, mismanaged billing, and engaged in coercive, intimidating conduct. The cumulative effect caused significant stress, wasted time, and loss of confidence in their professional integrity. I’ve chosen ELS solicitors after reading on line reviews and this review is totally based on my experience with them! I will NOT recommend this company!
Had to find another company to represent me after been left feeling misunderstood and overcharged! The communication with Vital ,in my experience, was not very good either , been left feeling that I was working for him and not the other way around! My advice,based on my experience , avoid!

Note for future,,rabbits,, keep running!!
An injured,,rabbit,, saw a hole and thought will be the perfect shelter from the seagulls that attacked him without realising that the hole has just hyena home.Hyena promise to the rabbit if he give him a leg will make the seagulls pay for the injurys and will get his leg back and the rabbit accepted but few months later the hyena snatched the other leg too and was trying to convince,,the rabbit,, to give him the other two legs!!The rabbit try to leave the hole but hyena asked the rabbit to give him the ears and in the battle hyena accepted ,, as a gesture of goodwill,, to have just one ear!! Now ,,the rabbit,, is out of hyena hole without front legs and missing one ear but somehow ,,the rabbit,, will have to find the strength to run and still have to fight the seagulls! So, note for future,,rabbits,, ….keep running !!!
