We have worked with Emmersons Solicitors on a number of conveyancing jobs. At first they were very responsive as you would expect any professional firm to be.
After a while they stopped keeping us informed on the progress of our deals - our emails would be ignored in some cases for a whole week or longer. Phone calls not answered and no call backs. We have also experienced some unpleasant attitude when pushing for updates.
To summarise, they are capable of doing the work, however, if you want to stay informed on the progress of the deal, not be ignored by your solicitor and not to experience occasional rudeness, we would advise looking elsewhere.

We recently worked again with Lee Guilder at Emmersons to complete on a probate property purchase. As always Lee was able to overcome all the difficulties we encountered along the way for both seller and us as buyers. We highly recommend Lee in any conveyancing matter as he is also strongly supported by a great team at Emmersons.

Emmersons came highly recommended to us by our mortgage broker for their excellent conveyancing reputation. We worked directly with Lee Gilder who was amazingly responsive to our needs and our timeline. I would highly recommend Lee and Emmersons too.

After reading both positive and negative reviews regarding Emmersons, I can only write this review based on my experience with the company and can confirm in my case it was a positive one.
As I live in Sunderland I was originally concerned when I discovered their conveyancing team is based in Newcastle, however I was reassured that should I wish to speak to my solicitor face-to-face, this could be arranged at the Sunderland branch.
Throughout the sale of my late Father’s property I was kept up to date at all times and my emails and telephone calls to both Jasmin Mann and Lee Gilder were answered without any delay.
There was only one small matter that I feel I should have been informed of at an earlier date, this being the requirement of a EPC certificate . Having not sold a property for some years. I was not aware of this requirement and was not told I needed it until a few weeks before completion. Luckily I managed to organise this quite quickly prior to going on holiday and the completion date was not delayed.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Emmersons for any conveyancing matters

I completed a week long work experience at Emmersons Solicitors with Mr Griffith, i could not recommend a better firm! All members of staff were comforting, welcoming and very honest. They treat their clients with nothing but respect and do everything they possibly can to receive the best outcome. I would highly recommend Emmersons Solicitors to anyone looking for advice.

I purchased my first property last year and my purchase was being dealt with by Lee. I never spoke to him the whole time I was involved with Emmerson’s. I tried calling him a number of times and was told by a rude receptionist that I would get a return call from him on a number of occasions. He took a long time to email me back and I was left in the dark throughout the whole process. He sent me an email referring to me as someone else and said that completion would be the following week and this was not true. The whole service from Emmerson’s was very poor and I would definitely not recommend them to anyone. I hope if anyone looks to go with Emmerson’s then they do their research.

Having received this information by letter 8 months after the event, we responded to the concerns raised. In essence, throughout the process this person raised no issues whatsoever and was happy to communicate by email, which is what we did. The transaction completed on the agreed date. There were no delays as far as we were concerned.
What this really shows is that if you have concerns, raise them immediately and if you need to speak to any of our Property Lawyers then indicate that you require a phone call, rather than an email response to emails being sent in.
The important message is that our service levels are reflected by the fee payable, and the vast majority of our clients appreciate our work as can be seen by other reviews.

Excellent communicator, very knowledgeable, professional, I always complete my transaction before deadline and with no hassle. Over £4k, 12 mths later and 3 different solicitors at this firm. I was still no further forward in my case. I decided to move to a different firm and have accomplished more in the last month than in the whole time with Emmersons. They seem to be more interested in taking your money than the client. I would definitely not recommend them.

I was dealt with by Tracy Hammond and her law student last week. Tracy was incredibly helpful, supportive, empathetic and professional in the high quality of service and advice she provided me in relation to what are very upsetting family and matrimonial issues going on in my life right now. I found Tracy’s advice invaluable she is clearly very experienced, knowledgeable and yet fair, reasonable and operates with the true best genuine intentions of her clients explaining thoroughly all available options in simple to understand terms. I would highly recommend Emmersons and Tracy especially without hesitation whatsoever. First class professional and fair, equitable service here from top to bottom.

I was involved in an incident involving a child running out in front of my car. The police were determined to prosecute me even though it wasn't my fault. I used Emmersons, John Griffith to fight my case. He was very understanding from the start. He looked at the CCTV which showed clearly the boy crossing when the red man was in clear view. John wrote to the CPS and had the case thrown out. They are a fantastic company and I would recommend them to anyone.

Arrogant rude and incompetent. Refused to follow my instructions even when they were reiterated by CPS and my barrister. Two complaints to the ombudsman, first upheld, second pending. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Not only did they fail to make reasonable adjustment for my disability, they actually deliberately exacerbated my health conditions.

Sometimes it is necessary to cease acting for a client when they are abusive to members of staff on a daily basis. It is essential to be able to protect staff from such abuse.

As a new business start up, Emmersons was very good at explaining every issue to me. Without their swift and methodical advice, I wouldn't have been able to launch the business when I did and I certainly wouldn't have seen the growth I have experienced already.
