      McVey and Murricane were recommended to us by our house builder (Avant). I think there can sometimes be some scepticism around a builder recommending a solicitor however our experience with this has been excellent. The online service McV&M offer is exceptional and fits very well with modern life. I feel that having McVey and Murricane as our solicitors made the often difficult and complicated process of purchasing a house simple and very easy to understand. Would definitely use their services again and would recommend them to family and friends

      I recently used McVey and Murricane for the purchase of my new home. Everything was straightforward and I was kept updated through regular emails and phone calls. I encountered two last minute issues which could have potentially caused a delay in getting my keys but my solicitor Marrya was fantastic at chasing things up, keeping me updated and getting these issues sorted.

      Great service from McVey, friendly and helpful. Their online systems made it easy to be able to give info 'out of hours' and not have a delay due to working hours. The cost estimated I considered reasonable and got a small refund at the end. I would recommend and will use again for any future conveyancing.

      The company recently handled the conveyancing on my new house.and I was pleasantly surprised how well their approached worked. Instead of countless visits to their offices everything was done by email or online forms. This meant I was able to complete everything that needed to be completed very easily. Anything technical was backed up by clear explanation and, if required, there was a friendly voice on the other end of the phone line in case anything was unclear. I would definitely use their services again.

      I will start from good things .I was really happy to corespond with Susan Weir . Really easy to work with Susan . She is polite and nice . Good service from Susan .

      I was really annoyed with our solicitor Haazel
      I need to ask for everything and lack of information was main issues.
      I think I should recived updates straight after anything new in case.
      On beginning when I needed to sent first deposit , Hazel asked for wrong reservation fee and deposit amount as £2000 but should be £1500. When I email them there was no reply and over the phone she said again that that is correct but it wasn’t as on our documents we had clearly sent £1500. No explanation or apology about mistake.
      We had gifted deposit and we recived gift letters on beginning from broker my parent sent them in February and one week before completion Hazel ask for new letter with company details . And sent orginals signed by my parents by post . From Poland this letters could arrive after few days at least . I think this case should be dealt a bit earlier to be prepared.We have been agreed that I can sent pictures of this letters signed by my parents .

      When we organised and sent everything we wanted pay deposit quickly. It this case everthing was really slowly that is fine when it is explained and informed but I wasn’t properly. I was informed that they waiting final account from builder before They can send my statement. They said that they chased this again with builder

      email was sent on 16/05

      On 21/05 I recived
      ‘Just a brief note to confirm that we have now received the "State for Settlement" ’

      But when we checked date on ‚state for settlement ‚ it was sent to solicitor on 17/05

      That it was hold delayed to sent to us by few days.
      That is really stressful time then I should be informed all the time and service should be quick.
      When I called someone said that Hazel is on holidays one day then when I sent email to her should be return email with information that someone is off and it should be information when someone is back.

      And on the end when I was calling to your company everyone was polite nice friendly over phone said Good morning, evening and how they can help except Hazel .
      I needed to start talk hello because I never heard and introduce or good morning, evening . A bit rude.


      It was stressful time for us then I just wanted everything sorted smoothly .
      I can recommend Susan Weir - Regulations Team Associate and Transaction Finance Team
      But never again this company for any futher purchase

      First experience of electronic conveyancing. Sold one house, purchased a larger new build. It was evident that a great deal of thought had gone into how to meet clients' needs in a web based format. Service was expedient and professional. Our timescales were incredibly tight (less than 3 weeks from start to finish) and we were concerned that we would run out of time but our Solicitor, Amy Sullivan, was on top of everything. Is this the future for conveyancing? I can see no reason why not. Clearly you don't get the face to face, interpersonal rapport with this approach to legal services but you do get a very well coordinated and effective service. Would definitely recommend to anyone taking the part exchange/ new build option. Fasten your seatbelts folks, it's fast!!!

      Excellent and professional service to do our remortgage, however there could be more clarity on the invoice regarding exactly what each cost is for instead of for work carried out etc. We selected our lender via a broker and the offer included legal fees but these did not cover the cost of first registration a new system set up by the Scottish Govt in 2014 which still has to be improved as its causes high cost and delays to solicitors and clients
      I liked the fact that you used the internet and emails effectively to speed up the process.

      I believe that a few of the reviewers are right, this companies business model either works for you or it doesn't. Most of it is automated, and all is done online or over the phone. However, I can't complain about the results. Everything was prompt, I didn't have any problems at any stage and was given enough time even with my busy schedule to get documents sorted (assuming you remember to submit their online forms). The correspondents I had were also pleasant and it made everything easy compared to other more traditional models...but again, that may just be me.

      Reading the reviews here this firm is rated either 5 stars or 1 star with nothing in between. That seems to indicate that their business model either works for you or it doesn't. From my 1 star rating you will see which camp I'm in but agree others' comments about their abysmal communication.

      Without exception the several local solicitors I subsequently contacted rolled their eyes when their name was mentioned, one describing them as a "conveyancing bucket shop", their words not mine. I'd also observe that their charges in my case would not have been less than using any of the local solicitors and would actually have been more when a late notified extra was taken into account.

      My recommendation regarding them is to avoid.

      For a reasonable fee (we did shop around before choosing them), McVey and Murricane provided a very efficient online and email based conveyancing service. They responded to any communications from us very quickly, and it made the process a lot easier to manage than we had expected. Using the online portal at times that suited us allowed us to fit all the necessary actions in between our working lives. We would definitely use McVey and Murricane again.

      Having written a review before where I expressed my conserns about the work carried out for myself I can confirm that all issues have been resolved in a satisfactory manner.

      The issues were fully explained to myself and why they occurred. They were through no fault of the solicitor involved who was very helpful through the process. Further Alan who is the director was also extremely helpful in explaining the issues and offered compensation for the one small issue that was McVey and Murricanes fault, I asked this to be paid to charity and due to this he very kindly doubled the sum involved. The other issues were out with the companies control and that was a lack of understanding on my part.

      I believe that all issues have been resolved and there was genuine care and attention shown in resolving the issues. As I said before a lack of understanding one my part was one of the problems and the other was resolved and a good charity kindly got double the sum of compensation due to the kind people of Mcvey and Murricane.

      Avoid at all costs, absolutely shocking service, nightmare from day one. Only care about getting their money then leave you. Also been overcharged a lot more than our original quote. Offered a £50 compensation 3 weeks ago and they still haven’t sent that poor amount of money to our account. I’ve emailed three times and Amanda is still ignoring me.

      Genuinely awful. Moving house is stressful enough without employing the services of McVey and Murricane. Several 'oversights' occurred during the process and instead of admitting to them they tried to cover them up or blame other parties. When the problems occurred it was impossible to get anyone on the phone to talk about them. They made the week of my move unbelievably stressful due to the mistakes they made. No apology given and I also tried to contact Amanda Walker, whom I was told was in charge of complaints.

      Amanda ignored my emails and didn't return calls. Please avoid and take note of the warnings. I will be taking my complaint further. McVey and Murricane ignore complaints so will be taking this to the appropriate regulator.

      It is quite difficult to comment on this review as it is anonymous and therefore we cannot look at the particular case.

      We deal with a high volume of conveyancing transactions. At the end of each case we send out a customer questionnaire asking questions about customer service.

      While there will be individual situations where a case can become difficult or complex it is gratifying to note that the vast bulk of responses are highly complementary about the service provided.

      As far as we are aware we have not heard from this particular reviewer although if they would like to get in touch we shall of course review their case.

      From a legal point of view I have no problem with the work of MM.

      The house buying process is stressful and expensive. In future I will spend more money and get a solicitor that deals with my case diligently. The communication is MMs let down. They don't effectively communicate with you, lenders or sellers solicitors leading to a frustrating outcome. They gave me £150 by way of compensating for the poor communication but this didn't touch the sides in terms of the real cost of earnings and accommodation I required. They white washed the complaint I made with a unrelated list of facts.

      If you must use these solicitors keep a copious audit of communication. Continuously chase the estate agent for updates from the vendor. Don't trust MM to work on your behalf.

      I agree that house buying can be stressful. We and try and do what we can to make the process easier. This case could not settle when we hoped as we received a message late on that the other party could not sign the documents.

      We have high service standards. Although the delay was not our fault I felt our communication could be better hence the compensation.

      I understand Mr Girling will have felt frustrated that his case did not settle on time although that was beyond our control.

      Avoid at all costs. Such a bad experience during the process of selling my flat. Total struggle with all parts of the process and communication is absolutely appalling being kept in the dark during key stages of settlement. Need to push for everything and they avoid answering direct questions. Additional costs added without warning and a charge for a slightly late response which is an insult given their reponse time and that I was trying to call them to query the info. Steer clear if you can and save yourself the pain.

      I have reviewed Paul's case and think his comments are unfair. If the fee earner involved was not able to take the call she phoned back. Often Paul was in meetings and voicemails were left. All the information about the possibility of additional charges was provided to Paul (and indeed to every client) by email. Settlement was slightly delayed although this was outwith our hands. It is not possible to be any more specific on what is a public forum but as I say I think his remarks are unjustified.

      In one word Horrible!

      In many words...
      The worst experience I've ever had with solicitors.
      Extremely unprofessional, very slow in every possible way and lame customer service.

      If you fail to reply in a few hours to an e-mail, they send you an e-mail reminder that costs £10 as a penalty (yes a penalty) but when you try to reach them it takes around a week (or more) for them to answer an e-mail or call you back.
      Plus they have appointed a trainee for our case, that she clearly has no idea what she is doing.

      I am trying to purchase a property for almost 3 months now. They keep delaying everything and asked for attorney power with the only excuse that if I don't give it to them the process will delay even more, and now they postponed the date of entry for 1 month without telling me if there is something wrong with it or if it is simply a conveyancing issue, leaving me in the dark and stressed that I might lose the property.

      For the past three weeks, I am calling and e-mailing them almost daily simply to ask the "solicitor" to call the seller's solicitor and ask if the delay is due to the process or if the seller changed their minds. She simply says that she will call me back but never does call them or me, so I have to email/call her again.

      Today I had to find a way and contact the other solicitor to figure out things. They did in less than 5 minutes what the Mcvey and Murricane solicitor could not do in three weeks!

      Absolutely worthless!
      I would change to another firm in a heartbeat if I didn't have to start the process all over again.
      Can't wait for the process to be completed so I Never have to deal with them again.

      This is NOT my first experience in buying or selling a flat

      Simple conveyancing, buying a flat.
      Poor communication
      Poor management of the conveyancing
      Avoid direct questions
      Ignore direct questions
      Very Slow, this could have been the seller but given the overall experience from them it is at least partly their fault
      Provided all of the documents needed and yet the last few days were rushed as they didnt follow up any details with the seller
      Near to zero input from solicitor

      Not a smooth transaction and there seems to be much more stressed related to the process of buying a flat using them. It seems like a very amateur company

      My mortgage company used them. Agree very soulless company. You have to agree to give limited power of attorney with little meaningful explanation of this other than if you don't it will take longer and maybe cost you. I sent mine but apparently they haven't received it (didn't tell me this despite email to them asking them to tell me if they didn't). Therefore mortgage delayed. Spoke to a very grumpy unfriendly lady on the phone. Will see if I hear back. They don't fill you with confidence and I'd avoid unless you don't have a choice, like me!

      Do not use this company. Bad communication, dropping the ball from day one, making excuses blaming the bank holiday, our seller's solicitor and our buyer when in fact they hadn't done their job. Moving date was pushed back 4 times. Only one of these changes we were told about in a timely manner. They told our seller about the second change before they told us - we had to confront them about it when we found out from the seller. The third change we were asked 'would you mind if it was a day later?' at 8pm of the same day we confronted them about the third change. Our seller wasn't told about this change. The agent we'd been dealing with then went on holiday the following day without telling us. Then 5 days later, the day after a bank holiday, we initiated contact with them to ensure the move the following day was going ahead, and only at that point were we informed about a fourth change! Shocking, shocking service. We were not advised appropriately, or at all. For us as clients who do not buy and sell properties every day we were in need of guidance, support and advice and they offered none of this at any point throughout the entire process.

      Awful. They send a quotation which turns out to be totally false, so the initial amount you think you are going to pay looks good but ends up being a lot more expensive. They never answer calls or reply to emails. If you make a complaint they tell you it's being dealt with but just ignore you. Absolutely avoid! I'm having to escalate my case to the legal ombudsman to try to return money owed to me after over 2 months.

      The company has a business model different to the mainstream - high volume and low personal touch. This works if you are a first time buyer but anything more complex such as a sale and purchase really needs a more competent firm. They fail to respond to basic questions in a timely manner both from their own clients and counter party solicitors. This jeopardised a purchase we were making last year and the whole chain collapsed. The reason it turned out was the sellers solictor for the property we were buying was chasing for updates and hearing nothing. the sellers then got cold feet and pulled the plug. We wasted thousands. MM then had the cheek to try and charge us for services and also tried to persuade us to continue with the sale of our property. Sadly it's a risk you take when trying to be economiocal on legal fees. My advice is don't - their business model may work in some cases but is too risky otherwise. STAY WELL CLEAR

      I am confused by the reviews on google as my experience was completely different to others and I absolutely regret using these solicitors. I found communication dreadful. Calls upon calls were not returned. Our solicitor was always engaged. So instead we would email but those too were not responded to. We were first time buyers and had no clue what was happening for weeks. Mcvey and murricane would not commit to a completion date so we could not arrange removals or give a firm date of notice on our rental property. They just had a date they were aiming for but as communication was so poor, we never knew if we were on schedule. They also said they could not advise us during the negotiation period. Our offer was accepted and one of the conditions were that white goods were to be included. However the owner took one expensive white good and we were not aware it was their duty to replace it. That money could have been spent elsewhere. Again, the solicitor offered zero advice. Then just before conclusion (bear in mind we didn't know conclusion was approaching due to poor communication) we were emailed pages upon pages of information on the purchase of the house and were expected to read it within a couple of days with zero explanation or help from our solicitor on what it was all about, then get our deposit, plus stamp duty, plus solicitor fee and everything else in one go and pay the lot all within 3 days.... without prior warning. As I say, we were first time buyers and were unaware of the process. We expected our solicitor to guide us through the process as isn't that what we are paying a few thousand for? Very disappointing and certainly do not recommend this service.

      Having sold another property previously and finding it a very stressful process I was recommended McVey and Murricane by my factor when I came to sell my flat. The process was very smooth, a lot of correspondence was done via e mail which suited me as I am always in meetings during the day. If I did have a query I could easily call and speak to the lawyer I was dealing with (Kim Naismith). Would definitely recommend them!

      McVey Murricane were appointed to us linked to a re mortgage. Dealings were via email. At first I was annoyed as had to complete details of re mortgage which had already been given to our mortgage adviser, but thereafter we were kept up to date with relevant emails, always aware of what was happening and when, information received was easy to understand. Actually felt in control.
      Great service from start to finish, very efficient system. I would recommend.

      I cannot praise the firm highly enough.
      The firm was appointed by our new mortgage provider to deal with the handover from our old provider. I was contacted by email and set up an account based on information passed on by our IFA.
      I had occasion to phone the firm at one point and was dealt with most courteously by a member of staff.
      Additional funds had been requested with the remortgage and following a slight delay due to our old provider, we received a cheque which was quickly deposited into our account.
      I cannot praise the firm enough. After initially being concerned that everything was done via email rather than human contact I really think the service was first class.
      A huge "well done" for McVey and Murricane!

      Legal side of the conveyancing was first class however dealing with the accounts teams in particular John Clyde was an absolute nightmare.

      I have bought and sold many houses in the past but this is the first and last time I will use this mob!

      My basic questions like what is the total fee for the convincing wasn't answered and I was constantly fobbed off.

      Our quoted price was drimatically different from the actual price with no explomation.

      Avoid these cowboys at all costs don't get sucked in by the low quote because you will end up paying a lot more!
