I have previously left a 1 star review on Trust Pilot which was removed because we were not direct clients of quanticks. We were however part of a chain for which Quanticks were solicitors for our buyers buyers. Hopefully this review will be accepted this time as I have made clear that we were directly affected by Quanticks incompetence. I believe that anyone in a chain that is affected by the incompetence of a solicitor whether it is their solicitor or not should be able to leave a review on trust pilot. Other review sites allow reviews for this sort of scenario to be left. Google reviews for instance is a true representation of quanticks reliability and professionalism. Please find below my previous review: If I could leave no stars I would. This company should not be practicing conveyancing. So many mistakes were made. Forgot to order the following: Maintenance pack, Fire Safety, etc..... etc..... believe me the list goes on...… They allowed us to the point of exchange and completion (Same Day) and then only realised on this day that they had not dealt with an issue on ground rent which actually took 3 more months for them to resolve. Save yourself the grief and go with another company. It took 7 months for ours to go through because of this company.

      QUANTICK DUPED MY PARENTS
My parents were getting old. In 2014, my eldest brother died. So I was pleased that my parents refreshed/renewed their will by making sure that his children were included as beneficiaries of his share of my M&D’s estate. My parents used the services of Neil Quantick to clarify the names of my parent’s children and also my eldest brother's children too (my parent’s grandchildren). It was explained to me by Neil Quantick that it was very important that ALL the beneficiaries are specifically named so that the will could not be challenged by an outsider pretending to be a family member/sibling. I was very happy with that as that is what my parents would have wanted. However, I was very upset that my youngest brother (an accountant) and myself who were previously appointed joint executors in the old will were replaced by Quanticks. On hearing this, I called Louise Harris & Neil Quantick. Neil blankly refused to explain their charging structure. I asked them to provide a written quotation to my vulnerable father (then 88). He reassured me that his firm’s charges would be reasonable and competitive. OK, if you are reasonable and competitive then please provide a written quotation. Again Neil refused. He said it was none of my business. In his discussion with me, he was rude and arrogant. He said it had nothing to do with me despite the fact that both myself and my brother were appointed POAs.
      QUANTICKS OVERCHARGE
The estate is such that no inheritance tax is payable, but Quanticks still saw fit to use an accountant and charge M&D’s estate £825+VAT = £990 to complete a simple £0 inheritance tax calculation bill.
Quanticks charged then the estate £165.00+VAT to review the IT400 form. They used another solicitor within the same practice to review and check the form. So another £165+VAT. Quanticks charge
£27.50+VAT for each e-mail separate correspondence they send (there are 8 beneficiaries!).
A further £27.50+VAT for each e-mail they receive. If you send the proof of address, passport and bank details by separate e-mails, then that is a lot of money.
£13.50+VAT for each phone call they make or receive.
When we got a notification that the main contact was going on maternity leave, some of us wrote e-mails of congratulations/good luck, only for the estate to be charged £27.50 +VAT for each one! This is ridiculous. It would have been cheaper to have sent flowers.
My M&D agreed that Quanticks should charge the estate 1%+VAT. I am not unduly unhappy with that. But I wished that they explained that to us that they would charge M&Ds estate for all the administration on top. We could have done the work ourselves and would have been a lot quicker and cheaper What I am very unhappy with is that they define the estate as complex (but the estate is all in cash and all the beneficiaries are all named) and they are charging the estate £275+VAT per hour. This is contrary to their website that states £125+VAT for simple estates and £250+VAT for complex estates. I have no doubt whatsoever that what they are doing is legally correct, but what they are doing is ethically immoral. They were NOT transparent in this process with my parents.
      QUANTICS ARE SLOW
Moving on, my Dad died early in 2019. My Mum went into a Nursing home later in 2019. My Mum died of Covid in Jan 2021. The estate was simple as it all in cash. The beneficiaries were all named. We provided a death certificate and a list of all the bank account details in Feb 2021. Quanticks waited 6 months to submit probate applications to the court. Remember, the estate is a cash estate. It is simple. It only took 6 weeks between the probate application and the court granting probate. Quanticks then declared that they have to serve notice (i.e. place a notice in the Gazette to protect the executors of the will in case there is a claim against the estate). The whole point of doing the will professionally (remember Q prepared the will) was so that the executors' estate did not have to Serve Notice. This is contrary to what I was told 5 years earlier. Whilst waiting for Q to serve notice. We don’t hear anything for 2 weeks. So I checked the Gazette online. Still, Q had not served notice! Only when we queried Q about when they might serve notice do they then decide to serve the notice to the Gazette. They appear to be dragging out the process unnecessarily. When I did some research about the ‘servicing of notice’ in the Gazette, it transpires that this process can be done at ANYTIME after the solicitor received a copy of the death certificate and the will. These docs were presented to Qs 9 months earlier. But they decided to wait till probate was granted before they serve notice. So now have to wait a further 2 months. It appears that Q has deliberately delayed the process. Since Feb 2021, the stock market has risen 20%. It is for the above reasons why I complain.
