Abysmal service whilst trying to buy our first house. We were ‘handled’ by Shelly Fuge. Had to constantly fight for anything to be done. Never had any replies to emails and when we highlighted this to Sam Hawkins himself we were ignored by Sam and then contacted by Shelly. She told us that we should be paying her a lot more anyway for the “extra time” she had spent replying to our emails. (This was because we had to chase every single email as they were never responded to in the first place!? We had no apologies for any of the lies or hold ups and in the end the purchase didn’t go through. Well we have just Completed on a house, having used a different solicitor, I can tell you it certainly isn’t normal practice and this firm is utterly awful. We were also lied to about our searches having been put in when they hadn’t at all. Documents were “lost in the post” endless negative experience. I would advise anyone wanting a smooth and quick transaction to avoid them like the plague.

The worst conveyancer's I have ever had to deal with by far. They don't return calls or emails and are completely reactive rather than proactive. After two/three weeks of not having any reply to my request for a simple case update, I called Sam Hawkins himself to highlight this directly to him and see if he could prompt my solicitor (Samantha Matthews) to respond to me. I thought he would be shocked and surprised by this but instead he simply implied I had bombarded the solicitor with calls and emails. I sent 1 email which I followed up 1 week later and then a call to Samantha's PA when I still hadn’t heard from anyone. If you are looking for a competent, fast acting & proactive firm then do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Absolutely fantastic! Being a foster carer, I only had a small window to be able to move into the property I bought. Lisa and Rebecca sorted this out for me. They communicated all the way, and at one point when I was slightly anxious about it all coming together, Lisa was very calming in here approach and made me feel completely at ease. I can't praise then enough!

Highly recommended from first phone call to appointment. After a time of unease regarding a legal lease problem I was put at ease within minutes of our meeting, the understanding of “Law” and professional knowledge was shown within five minutes of perusing a complicated lease I was recommended and advised on the way forward, the recommendation and advice was followed and to date no problems have arisen. A couple of weeks later a follow up phone call was made to check on outcome and a "what if" scenario was also given. Very satisfied with service, friendly, approachable and highly professional would highly recommend for all property transactions and scenarios.

My latest experience with them has been rather terrible. They do not reply to emails once you become their client, and the only way to get anything done is by calling them and even this does not guarantee that you get through to someone, so far nobody has ever called back too.

Decided to use these as they were local so thought I'd have a more personal service but I wish now I had just used an online firm, saved some money and probably got a better service. Things were just sent to me in the post without any prior notification or explaination of what they were, which you'd think was just common courtesy. No clear guidance was given when I asked about what I had been sent and was even told by the person on the other end if the phone that they did not know either! I was nevet kept updated, I always called them. Calls were returned via email instead of a call back. Money was taken even after I said not to. Incorrect information given as was looking at someone else's file! I was expecting to meet my solicitor face to face in order to go though all the information they had, as it meant nothing to me, which has been standard practice whenever I have used a solicitor in the past and another reason why I chose a local firm yet this never happened and I was told that if I had wanted to do that then I should have asked. They finally refused me to tears 2 days before completion due to their lack of communication and inability to explain things clearly. They had no thought for me the customer and it was evident that this was the attitude throughout the company as when I complained to Mr Sam Hawking himself he felt I had no reason to complain and that his staff were not at fault at all. They offer £50 if a call is not returned that day yet I was not even offered £10 for the failures I received throughout my experience with his company. Very very disappointing.

I was recommended to use Sam Hawking & Co by a local Estate Agent because they deal solely with Conveyancing.

Someone always got back to me when they said they would and there is also online tracking of my transaction. There is a very friendly atmosphere in the office. I was very satisfied with the service I received and would use Sam Hawking & Co again in the future.

Sam Hawking is truly exceptional. I asked to move to my new property within seven weeks of selling, wanting to move in before Christmas. He made it possible and with no stress at all. He is easy to talk to, doesnʼt make you feel uneasy or intimidated. I would recommend Sam to anyone who is buying or selling their house. Thank you Sam for making my Christmas
