I am an historic abuse victim and contacted this firms abuse department. I could tell from the start the people i was dealing with were cowardly. When I revealed the abuse was perpetrated by so called “untouchable” people within institutions, this firm decided to refuse to even get involved. No advice, no help, not interested, so are content to let some abuse victims, stay as victims.

I put a claim in after an accident in june2021, the claim was sorted and I was awarded a paltry £495. Since winning the case and accepting this paltry sum through boredom, I can confirm that I still haven’t been paid !!
They pester you all the time until the case is sorted and now it’s time to pay. , NOTHING. they do all of their business by email and don’t care about you as a customer, I will not use a firm like this ever again, but will go to a local solicitor, where I can actually speak to somebody. Very disappointed.

Ridiculous medical reports and a £5, 000 offer after nearly 4 years of pain and 3 orthopaedic surgeries. They will take 25% of any payout. They promised to visit after the accident but never did because there is NO London office. I would advise everyone to steer clear and find another solicitor. It has been an absollute nightmeare.

0 Stars for this absolute shambles of a company, 6 months down the line of selling our house and still no further forward, they promise completion and exhange dates just to appease us as they had not even drawn down the funds. They have been chased and chased, no one replies or comes back to you. Even the managers do not want to speak with you. Judging by the other reviews we are not going to get the house sale through anytime soon so we have pulled out of the sale costing us all additional money. Shambolic company!!

They have also moved me to four different conveyancers since June. STAY AWAY/AVOID THIS SHAMBLES AT ALL COSTS

I hate to say it but I doubt very much you will be completing soon. We have everything we need to exchange and complete with everyone in the chain the only thing missing us a revised contract needs to be sent over (new buyer) by s & g and we have been asking for this for weeks. We have spoken to their complaints team daily, have emailed our solicitors daily, have had the other sides solicitors email them daily and they just do nothing. We would move solicitors but if we did that I'm pretty sure the other parties would pull the plug. How can companies get away with this?

All we wanted was an update from time to time and idea of timescale and possible amount of settlement, iv been out of work with my injury so as you can imagen money is an issue but iv been left not knowing where I stand. My case has been at a standstill for month. In the last 5 months very little has progressed. I have been assigned 4 different solicitors, 2 of which never worked on my case, and 2 of which ignore me for weeks on end.
They are the most unprofessional company with a customer service process that doesn't work. I've left 20+ messages and had 0 call back/responses. You can't get through to any person working on your case. Voicemails are not responded to.
S&G clearly have systemic issues that will not be quickly resolved. The company takes on as many cases as they can, without having the person-power to fulfil them. Money trumps service. The solicitors must have such a horrendous case load that means they can't satisfy any of their client needs. Please do not hire them. Go with a small company that cares about your case and providing a good service. It will be well worth the extra money!

I am at a loss to express just how bad the customer service is from Slater & Gordon. The service or rather lack of it really is the worst I have ever received. I instructed for conveyancing services in May 21 & despite endless phone calls & emails it is now mid September I have never once spoken to my case handler. If my sale doesn't complete by the end of September then the sale will collapse yet still no response from Slater & Gordon other than a standard generic email stating they will look into it. They really do not care abour their situation once you have instructed it's like you fall into a big black hole. You can never get past the switchboard asvisor who does the same thing everytime, apologies & says she will send another message to the case handler, apologising mean nothing if nothing changes the apologies very quickly become worthless. They're like robots who just read off a script with the same response " I apologise but the only thing I can do is send another message " after at least a dozen messages being sent its very apparent these messages are pointless.
The client care team are just as bad & send a generic we will look into & again no other response or follow up. I and have asked where and how I can make a formal complaint, surprisingly nobody seems able to advise me ot has bothered to reply as how I can actually do this.
Slater & Gordon you really do need to review your customer service as it's your clients who pay extortionate fee's for such appalling service, yet you appear to treat your clients so poorly once they have instructed, simply the worst customer service I have ever come across!

I strongly suspect they are only after the fee for time used for searches etc and have no actual intention to complete any sale or purchase , I believe they are ethically corrupt and have no customer care at all in their operations. Spoke to the line manager to on the phone and he agreed to call be back within a few weeks once he'd carried out an investigation into my complaint. Our conversation was December 2020, it's now 2022 and I've never received a call back. The line managers investigation obviously supported my complaint. The lack of a returned telephone call to admit what they've actually done compounds how unprofessional and rude they really are. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

This Firm needs to be investigated. It is of no use to the members of the public. They are doing an extremely bad job. They do not act in a way that is conducive to people having positive outcomes in their cases. Why has this firm been allowed to have such bad service for so long? Their complacency places clients in a bad position and someone needs to take action.
This concerned an RTA matter. I underdstand that it had an office in Aldershot, which has now closed.
1. It took ages for my case to commence and Slater and Gordon sent me too many texts.
2. Every time I rang to ask about the progress about my case, I was not given any precise information and nothing was ever clear.
3. My File Handler kept changing. This is not the way to do things. Why go through so many File Handlers for such a simple process? It did not make sense and they seemed to change every few weeks. I often spoke to a middle-aged man who claimed to be a manager, but he did not act in a professional way. He did not appear to understand what he was doing and lacked the ability to explain things in a way people could understand. He was rude and abrupt. He should not be in such a role because he lacks compassion, treats people like rubbish and he lacks the skills to be able to interact with clients.
Each time I spoke to someone, it was as if they could not wait to end the phone call. Why was there such a high turn-over rate?
4. The customer service was awful. Although a few of the File Handlers were adequate, no one ever rang me back and some of the File Handlers were rude and abrupt. They spoke to me as if I lacked common sense, but I was just trying to familiarise myself with a process that was new to me. I cannot believe that they had the audacity to speak to me like that. How would they like it if they were struggling financially and physically and they were treated like that? They need to learn manners, compassion and how to treat people better. They also lied to me and told me that the Manager was out of the office for the day. When I rang an hour later, I was told that he was in the office.
I felt extremely bullied by some of the people with whom I spoke.
This place needs to be investigated. Clients are not being treated well and I know that many of the cases have reached limitation because the Firm does not handle
things that well and is not organised. There are so many negative reviews about this Firm that it warrants investigation and something needs to be done.
5. Claims are delayed too much and the whole process takes too long and they are not dealt with in any coherent manner. The way that clients are treated makes it clear that Slater and Gordon do not care about clients.

Called over a dozen times, every time they say they would mark it urgent. If you like to know what's what and be informed with what's happening regards to your claim. I sincerly advise you to NOT USE them, you'd have more success squeezing water out of a rock , then getting a reply from them. I have now made a complaint with the legal ombudsman, they cannot do anything for 8 weeks, but even if i get a reply from Slater and Gordon i most certainly will be taking the complaint further because of their very poor and utter lack of communication with their clients

I would never recommend going to this company in a million years. We were tied into a contract with them following a car accident. My wife and I were on oramorph and pain killers at the time, and to be honest we would have signed anything at the time. Biggest mistake of my life. In five years, which is how long they took to settle my claim, even though the other insurance company accepted responsibility 10 days after the accident.(we weren't to blame) I was dealt with by 14 handlers. Not solicitors. As far as I can tell, they did not negotiate for my settlement, they just kept advising me to settle for the offer made by the other party. In the end this company told me to accept because they had missed the court deadline for most of my medical evidence. I feel they weren't working in my interest at all. I could have done better on my own, without them. Avoid at all costs

Slater and Gordon had technical issues last week where emails would not go through, but then the Conveyance Team then ignored emails and calls and provided only a apparent generic response which made no sense to me.
Their phone app is useless, they provided a lease to sign without legal advice which is irresponsible.

In addition, their complaint procedure is misleading because the address where complaints are supposed to go does no longer exit. I was first attended by a proactive solicitor, unfortunately, he was leaving the firm.
A different solicitor took my case and that was the beginning of my anxiety and lack of sleep.
I decided to account with them because of their name and be one of the top firms in the UK... error.
Since the minute 1, the advice was to settle with a low offer. My solicitor didn't trust me, despite the obvious evidence, and didn't believe in the case nor its cause.
I told him that I want to prove that I was unfairly dismissed, and his advice was always to settle and give up.
During the process, I raised a complaint against him (4th August), they told me that the 26th of August I will have a response, I chased a response the 29th of August and today (15th of September) I've emailed them again chasing a response.
I asked my solicitor to raise a Subject Access Request, and, seeing his lack of proactivity, I decided to take over the case and do the things by myself. I raised the SAR and, when my ex-company decided to negotiate, I was telling my solicitor what to say and what was the strategy against them.
In a couple of occasions, he didn't disclose the whole information from the counterpart, something vital for me to decide the strategy. In the end, I've ended up with 3 times more than what he advised me at first and other bonuses.
The only thing that they do ASAP and are really good is to send invoices. To reply to emails, know from them, advise, etc. they are quite slow, but the invoices arrive the same day.
The reason for me to have a solicitor was the peace of mind and have a professional lawyer covering my back. For me, this was a total mess, anxiety, lack of sleep, nervous every time that I see his name or phone number and abandonment. The worst part was to feel that he gave up, he didn't trust me and was more focus in close the case and collaborate with the counterpart than seek my goal.

Currently selling my property with Slater & Gordon. Awful service, no ownership taken, I've been passed between 6 different conveyancers/paralegals, coming to me with queries that I either answered over 2 months ago or that they can/should investigate themselves.
Constantly chasing them as it's S&G who are holding the sale of my property up, but I'm repeatedly getting ignored!
Tried to phone the Client Care team where the online complaints procedure reads 'an informal chat can put matters back on track' however no answer after multiple tries! Alternatively had to send them an email marked 'urgent' and advising I'm incurring uneccesary charges but still heard nothing back.
Even after advising the 6 members of staff that I was filing a complaint I was ignored.
Service great at the beginning when they want to lure you in but we are (what should be) at the final stages (after I took matters into my own hands and send responses/documents directly to the estate agent/buyers solicitor) and don't appear to be getting anywhere fast.
Disgusted, will never use again or recommend to others.

I have started the conveyancing with them almost three-months ago , but I have struggling to get the response for each query I sent to them.
Most of the time , I had to e-mail them but I have had no response at all.
When I call my case worker , she always says that she would do it and send to me the appropriate response but I never received e-mails on time.
I still have not had my searches report though I start this process three months ago. Mean while seller-solicitor is moving fast and they are very eager to finish off this process asap.
Now I am bit scared that I will loose this property because of my case worker's irresponsible.
I will never ever go with them when I buy next property.
I even have made complaint to the 'clientcare' team as it has been requested. But I have had no response for more than 3 weeks from any of their staff.
Can some one please suggest me if I can take any legal action as I lost money and valuable time with them.

Saddly I did not read other people's reviews online first before using Slater&Gordon conveyancing team' service, I have to say I completely agree with the above negative reviews.
Their conveyancing team's service is absoluately shocking! The main problem is they don't keep you informed of what's going on, where you are up to at each stage. They asked you to pay an initial payment then they just disappear, nowhere to be found. You can phone their office and leave a message, but no one gets back to you. They sent you one email about your conveyancing update, then you replied to ask for more questions, no replies!!! Next time you got email would be 4 weeks later. Both myself and my agents contacted them and they just ignored us. I have never seen any solicitor is such arrogant.
They have this online portal you can log in and check the whole process, but no one updates that portal so all the information are not up to date and completely pointless.
I would not recommend their service to anyone, they don't give a xxxx about your conveyancing, and they just do the paperwork and get money. At least from a customer's point of view, for them it is just routine, there is not customer service at all!!

After a promising start and engagement I was then asked to pay £200 towards the fees which I paid in good faith. Since then, I have been contacted once at the request of one of their legal administrators. Other than that, no updates, no response to emails and phoning is a waste of time. Was even cut off by 'online chat' today after noting my case was about conveyancing!! No idea if work has even started some 7 weeks ago. Just sent a formal complaint asking for my money back. Will pursue this further as their attitude is a disgrace to the legal profession.

I work for Overland Health which is a sister company that forms part of the Slater Gordon group and has been for nearly 6 years. Our company was treated as an afterthought since pretty much day 1 due to being located in Malta. We were forced to operate with bare bones staffing levels, for subhuman wages, all while other divisions in the Group added Heads of department left and right, and made up phony management positions to reward incompetent staff. All the while Overland Health remained its top performing and consistently most profitable part of Group year after year. Well just this week we were given the delightful news, smack bang in the middle of a global pandemic, that Group have taken the decision to close down Overland Health. Not because of losses due to to lock downs or other COVID related issues. No they are closing Overland Health because they found themselves a more profitable arrangement with a different rehabilitation provider. To make matters worse, nobody from Group level even had the courage to face us and give us the news themselves. We were told by our general manager, who himself is now out of employment, over a video conference call. So now 30+ loyal employees who have put up with Group's politics, neglect, and disrespect, some who have worked for Overland for over 10 years, will now find themselves unemployed in a world which is on the verge of a global recession. All because some fat cats at Group found a way to add a few extra £££s to their bank accounts. Thanks for nothing Slater Gordon.

I did not receive any meaningful service from this firm at alland accordingly a score of 8% would be far far too high. Initially I instructed the firm to join me in a class action . However almost immediately after I had a change of mind and instructed them not to join me as a claimant in the action and withdrew my instructions. Nevertheless the firm without any authority joined me in the class action thereby purporting that they had my authority to do so. As a result I have been put to considerable inconvenience and my claim had to be withdrawn. When I complained initially there was no apology and they attempted to justify their action as being for my own protection and there was no apology. My subsequent complaint to the Legal Ombudsman was upheld and their service was found to be both unreasonable and poor both by joining me in the claim contrary to my instructions and also in failing to follow their own complaints procedure. Despite being awarded a monetary sum by the Legal Ombudsman the firm has failed to pay the sum by the date directed and is yet to be paid. Since the sum is only a few hundred pounds and I was informed initially by them it would be paid as soon as they could I personally would be very concerned if I had any financial dealings with this firm. As to their paperwork stating that “customer service is fundamental to everything we do “ from my experience this is merely window show and a nonsense. I would certainly not wish this firm to act for me in the future.

I only went with SGS because it was recommended by my insurer, but I really wish I'd looked elsewhere. It took 2.5 years to get my case settled (despite the other driver admitting fault), during that time my case was given to 4 different handlers (a number of them left, which is telling) and there was no contact from them. Having to chase up what was happening with my case every few months for an update was frustrating, any communication would have been appreciated. In the end I received 1/3 the minimum estimate they had given and didn't get payment for basic expenses. Ultimately it was the poor communication, poor customer service and inaccurate claim estimate that did it for me. I would have contacted the ombudsman, but after it dragging on for so many years I didn't want to have to deal with them a minute longer, it was like a weight off my shoulders. Hopefully I'm never in that situation again, but if I was I wouldn't consider SGS.

In the initial stages of reporting the awful accident, they were pleasant and understanding. I was injured and vulnerable and unable to object to their 25% of any money I would receive from the driver's Insurers..a difficult and troubling situation as the driver did not and refused to report his actions.
Then I was allocated a 'Case Handler' and never spoke to or met with a solicitor, though In the initial stages of reporting the incident I was promised a visit from a solicitor. I was sent a form to complete but it was for a driver not a pedestrian to complete. I was expected to arrange 6 physio visits to a gym they had selected, but the gym had shut down. The next gym wanted me to fill in a form I found difficult so they refused me admission.
I contacted the 'case handler' to ask for advice but had no reply.
I sent in photos of the obvious outside damage to my legs and wrote with medical information several times but my emails were ignored, at least there was never any acknowledgement from them. I was sent to see a private doctor in Harley St who saw me for less than 15 minutes, who then wrote a report dictating exactly when the injuries would heal.
I was then made an offer of £4,500 for foot, leg and right hip injuries that have worsened.
I do not know how they calculate but they are way off, considering the daily I am in after 17 months I am sometimes unable to walk.
I have tried three times to talk to Slater & Gordon in London, just a few miles from where I live, but the London number is immediately redirected to their Manchester office. I would not think of recommending them to anybody else.

The best solicitors to fight your corner! I struggled with a nasty unmarried couple dispute alone for over a year before biting the bullet and paying for proper legal support.
I had one previous experience with a cheaper less well known solicitor and I just felt completely let down and not a priority. But with S&G - from start to finish, I felt supported 100% and valued.
I can't tell you how much that meant for someone to simply say "I'm sorry you're going through this" even at the initial contact centre phase. Every team member showed me compassion whether it was at the call centre or in the office.
I needed to get a face to face appointment within 24 hours due to the nature of the problem and got given one as a priority. I was assigned Sarah Thompson, who was fantastic and cut through all the fog and laid out the facts so I knew where I stood, no more erratic questions to google!
I was updated regularly and she did everything she could to secure my best interests. I can't recommend S&G and Sarah Thompson enough. It may be expensive, but in my view, it's worth every penny for the weight they lifted off my shoulders.

I would not recommend this firm to anyone. I used their Manchester branch for a personal injury case and I started my case with them in 2014. Now it’s July 2019 and it’s still ongoing. That isn’t the main issue though, it’s their lack of transparency and communication with their clients that’s the problem. I was offered a large sum by the defendant to end the case, but they sat on the offer for over 3 weeks and only told me about it the day before the deadline before the offer was withdrawn. I asked them to secure an extension as they acknowledged they failed to tell me about the offer weeks ago and I didn’t have enough time to get all the information regarding what the offer would cover (although I wanted to accept the offer as the sum was good). They told me they had gained an extension, after no contact with them for 2 weeks I contacted them again about the offer only to be told via email the defendant had withdrawn the offer! I cannot even find out from them if they actually got the extension or they just lied about it to cover their error. I have asked for a copy of the withdrawal of the offer so I can see how long ago they withdrew it, however my email requests go unanswered. I have raised a complaint 8 weeks ago and I am still awaiting the outcome. They also falsely advertise themselves as a HEADWAY BRAIN INJURY SOLICITOR but I have since found out that the solicitor qualified for this position left the firm ages ago and they do not have a HEADWAY TRAINED SOLICITOR at their firm. I have now reported them to HEADWAY and hope they are permanently struck off their list. This is a word of warming to everyone, please don’t make my mistake and take the first firm you see top ranked on google...my mistake...do your due diligence and stay away from this firm.

Had to stay on the phone and demand to speak to the case handler just to get an update (three different locums used so didn't even have one person allocated to the file). This case has been going on since the beginning of September and they have just raised the same enquiries again, requested a Fixtures and Fittings form for the third time and requested another Contract to be signed. Absolute shambles.
Don't waste your money on them!!!

Disgusting service received. . Firm comes up on Google search, so they get a lot of people desperate for help. They meet to discus the " easy case" tests. AKA shall we bother with this one.
Utterly useless. No matter how serious the case is.

This solicitor wants your case to go to court so they can charge you for more work. Avoid as they are just too money-orientated to have your best interests at heart.

I used Pannone for a Court case. I drafted and gave instructions to put in a part 36 offer at the outset. When it came to the end of the case I asked for a copy of the part 36 Offer and the answer I got was " I forgot"… but it was your fault because you didn’t remind me! So, instead of me getting all my costs, because of their negligence I could not claim them. Overcharging by the bucket load and more interested in chasing clients for bills (just before Court dates) than doing the work. From my 3 years experience of them AVOID

They took months and months on conveyancing as acting on behalf of lender and asked me for same paperwork for more than 15 to 20 times and wasting my time.I would say no no no to them,
I would request everyone not to use them and they should be checked by SRA as they are not here to do the job but to waste time and money of hardworking people.
Hope that helps.

Sat for 3.5 weeks doing nothing on a simple conveyancing job representing a lender. Refused to answer any questions from the purchaser about when case would be dealt with. Did not return any phone calls, very difficult to actually get to speak to anyone dealing with a case.
DO NOT USE !!!

I agreed with the owner of a "Charge" on a property to buy it off them. I used Pannone to draw up the Assignment to me. I wanted it done immediately on a standard assignment agreement and I was expecting it to take days to complete. It took months and months, and eventually it fell through due to their time wasting and dithering. The owner of the charge sold it elswhere. Pannone tried to (over) charge me for this, eventually they agreed because of their errors they would waive the bill. There was no compensation for loosing me the deal though. 0/10 is my score but I have to score at 1 star. Avoid like the plague.
